Overview
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, with Ubuntu widely used in cloud, data science, AI, and IoT initiatives. This product management track focuses on Cloud Native and requires leadership, communication, and technical vision to drive product strategy for tomorrow's business needs.
Responsibilities
* Lead the product lifecycle, reviewing priorities and goals for assigned products.
* Collaborate closely with engineering leads to oversee development processes.
* Work with cross‑functional teams—engineering, design, marketing, sales—to align priorities and drive business execution.
* Conduct market research, analyze industry trends, and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities and ensure alignment with Canonical’s vision.
* Coach, mentor, and train the product team.
* Establish KPIs for project status reporting and communicate progress across the organization.
* Drive execution excellence through continuous feedback and improvement.
* Contribute to strategy development to build and maintain high‑performing teams.
* Support the sales team by reviewing customer feedback and participating in customer meetings.
Qualifications
* Seasoned product management experience in technical domains related to open source software or cloud native environments.
* Experience designing or managing software operations for large‑scale distributed systems.
* Strong understanding of cloud native technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker containers.
* Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise security and compliance requirements in software operations.
* Proven ability to lead technical teams and drive their execution to excellence.
* Passion for writing about technologies and experience in developer marketing.
* Strong work ethic and interests aligned with the open source philosophy.
* Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
* Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.
