With revenues of more than $40 billion and the largest investment in R&D; in the industry, we give our people the resources and chances to create significant contributions to the world._**The job**:As our new Category Manager for our Research and Safety Market Division (RSD), you will work with the European Director, Portfolio Management to develop portfolio, category, and supplier strategies for a select group of suppliers within our Consumables portfolio for Europe.You will ensure the portfolio strategy is implemented by the key internal stakeholders and interact with the relevant Commercial, Marketing and Supply Chain Leadership.In addition, you will be tasked with the day to day management of our Consumables category of products, including the management of the key suppliers. You will ensure correct supplier/product positioning, pricing and promotions are used to drive revenue growth.This is a fully remote role (working from home) based anywhere in Europe, although the UK would be our preferred location. Some international travel may be required (up to 20% per annum / 2 trips per month on average), with some overnight stays.**What will you do?**- Develop and execute the European Consumables category and product strategies through the commercial teams, marketing campaigns and merchandising activities. Ensure alignment with global Category Management Strategy- Manage portfolio expansion, product margin optimization, supplier funding negotiation, support growth initiatives and develop customer segment strategies- Develop and manage select Key suppliers' performance through the Supplier Tiering Program and lead regular business reviews with supplier Senior Leadership. Ensure maximum engagement of the suppliers in supporting the sales growth, strategy deployment and improving customer experience- Track and analyze the strategy deployment through revenue growth, profitability and share gain in the defined territory. Define corrective action and implement to ensure the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) is met or exceeded- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the portfolio and regulatory requirements, the breadth of brands and competitors, and the range of requirements demanded by our customers and feedback to Category Management Team- Gather market intelligence across the European and Emerging Markets, provide commentary and escalations to Leadership. Lead corrective actions to enable dynamic and quick reaction in the strategy- Responsible for the day-to-day management of the category and key suppliers, maintaining strong commercially effective senior business relations within the key supplier’s leadership- Deep analysis of monthly sales data to gain understanding of market dynamics, develop corrective actions and lead key supplier quarterly business reviews. Complete month reporting tasks- Support Key Supplier activities with the yearly price roll, including communication with suppliers to ensure on time, data submission, review of data quality, problem solving, price positioning across the category and negotiation on price to ensure financial targets are met- Partner with the Customer Segment Marketing Manager on Marketing Campaigns that will drive revenue growth and product pull through**Who we are looking for**:- Bachelor’s degree in business, or a scientific field- Fluent in English (essential); additional European languages would be beneficial- Several years’ of lab industry experience, preferably in a commercial or portfolio/category management role- Confidence and poise to present, negotiate and manage a relationship with Director and Vice- President level supplier partners- Ability to develop/implement strategies and sound recommendations based on both quantitative and qualitative data, with understanding of financial drivers- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, presentation, and problem-solving skills, with a customer orientated mindset- Well-developed general business acumen with a thorough understanding of financial data and reporting methodologies, including common Key Performance Indicator metrics**What’s in it for you**:- Excellent career progression opportunities with a large and growing global employer- Competitive salary, plus annual incentive bonus- Full benefits package (specifics depend on country of hire)**About us**:Our Mission is to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
