Technical Project Manager - Software Delivery The Sr. Technical Project Manager (TPM) drives the day-to-day execution of complex, client-facing software projects, converting plans into results through disciplined delivery, technical fluency, and proactive communication. This role ensures outcomes are on time, on quality, and on budget, using industry standard metrics to monitor performance, anticipate risk, and drive improvement. The TPM works hands-on with developers, testers, and architects to coordinate builds, manage dependencies, and maintain delivery predictability across multiple streams. This role is on-site at local lab/office. Potential for up to 10% travel.
Responsibilities Delivery Execution
Drive project delivery plans and execution, maintaining ownership of scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
Use established KPIs and DORA metrics to track, analyze, and improve delivery health.
Remove delivery blockers, clarify priorities, and hold owners accountable for outcomes.
Technical Coordination
Partner with dev and test leads to align architecture, data flows, and dependencies with delivery plans.
Enforce readiness reviews, quality gates, and SDLC discipline.
Anticipate technical risks and lead structured recovery for troubled projects.
Stakeholder Alignment
Provide concise, data-driven updates to TPgMs, Delivery Owners, and clients.
Drive proactive communication across functional teams and with stakeholders to reduce surprises.
Represent delivery with confidence and credibility in stakeholder discussions.
Continuous Improvement
Lead retrospectives and capture lessons learned to strengthen delivery playbooks.
Promote consistent use of tools and disciplined backlog management.
Maintain accountability and steady execution under pressure.
Qualifications BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
Hands-on technical experience in development, testing, or production support.
5–8 years managing software projects, including client-facing delivery in retail, POS, SaaS, or other mission-critical systems requiring continuous uptime.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams through influence and data, driving clarity, accountability, and measurable improvement.
Practical knowledge of DORA metrics and CI/CD delivery practices.
Skilled in project tooling, such as Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Smartsheet.
PMP, SAFe, or Agile certification preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving ability.
Success Measures Projects delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
DORA metrics trend upward across assigned projects.
Red/yellow issues resolved within two weeks.
Positive client and stakeholder feedback on delivery ownership and communication.
Documented lessons are reused to improve future delivery.
