IE University´s School of Science and Technology invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Computer Science with a specialization in Operating Systems. We are seeking a dynamic candidate with expertise in system software development and management of hardware and software resources.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in processes, threads, memory management, file systems, and Linux/Unix internals, as well as an understanding of emerging trends in real-time systems and system-level security.

A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical & Computer Engineering with emphasis on systems/OS, distributed systems, or systems security is preferred.

We value candidates with the capacity to collaborate in applied research projects led by the Impact Xcelerator at IE School of Science and Technology, specifically in areas such as Robotics & AI for real-time systems and OS-level control, and Cybersecurity & Privacy for OS security layers and sandboxing. The ability to contribute to multidisciplinary research initiatives that apply system-level expertise to real-world challenges will be key to the role's success.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop and teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels in Operating Systems, including core topics such as systems programming, embedded systems, computer architecture, processes and threads management, and system calls.
* Conduct high-impact research in areas such as real-time operating systems, system security, virtualization, container technologies, or kernel development, while actively securing competitive research funds.
* Supervise and mentor students across undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs.
* Collaborate with industry partners on research initiatives focused on system-level innovations for robotics, IoT devices, and secure computing environments.
* Play an active role in curriculum development, incorporating emerging trends in system software, including cloud-native OS architectures and edge computing systems.
* Participate in academic service and contribute to the strategic growth of the School of Science and Technology.

We offer:

* A competitive salary in line with top-ranked European academic institutions.
* A generous seed research fund to cover travel, equipment and relocation costs.
* State-of-the-art campus facilities and support to build your lab infrastructure.
* A professional and stimulating international working environment with English as the de facto language.
* Full access to public health services through membership of the National Insurance Scheme, plus a discount plan to acquire an additional private health insurance plan.
* Diversity in an open-minded, inclusive, and family-friendly environment.
* Inspiring campus life on a conveniently located, state-of-the-art, unique campus in the hearts of Madrid and Segovia.
