Senior Network Engineer (BGP, Data Center Networking) Iron Mountain is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our Global Network Managed Services team. In this 100% remote role based in Madrid, you will be responsible for assuring reliable, responsive, and secure operational excellence of our integral network and data center infrastructure. This involves leading new installations, troubleshooting incidents, and driving continuous improvements in a complex, mission‑critical environment.
What You’ll Do
Configure, install, and maintain customer‑facing infrastructure: Deploy, rack, stack, support, and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, firewalls, and switches, across our internal and customer‑facing data centers.
Collaborate on incident and problem management: Engage with global customers and Network Operations teams to identify, analyze, and resolve complex faults, ranging from major network outages to customer escalations.
Ensure compliance and operational excellence: Implement and adhere to rigorous processes for network monitoring, security, change control, incident management, and maintain comprehensive documentation of all configurations and procedures.
What You’ll Bring
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a complex, mixed‑vendor, mission‑critical network environment, preferably with customer support experience.
Strong knowledge of critical network technologies and protocols, including Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), High Availability Redundancy Protocol (HSRP), Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), Spanning Tree, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Multi‑Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS‑IS), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), and Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Proven ability in utilizing critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot complex carrier/datacenter network environments and manage projects with little supervision.
A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related technical field, OR five to ten (5‑10) years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certifications are preferred.
