Context And Mission
The Earth System Services Group (ESS) at the Earth Sciences Department conducts interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research to enhance societal value of climate prediction services, atmospheric composition and weather forecasting. The group actively engages with society, decision-makers, and businesses to co-produce and exchange knowledge and develop user-oriented services. The aim of the ESS is to enhance knowledge cocreation and improve resilience by accelerating adaptation to a rapidly changing environment.
The ESS group is looking for an Environmental Economist from any nationality to help businesses and policy-makers navigate climate risks and opportunities. The candidate is expected to perform quantitative and qualitative impacts assessments, working on different sectors (energy, food-security, insurance, city planning etc.). The work will entail a part of data analysis, data visualization, reports and papers writing. At the same time, the Environmental Economist will work closely with project partners and companies using the climate services. The selected candidate will also team up with climate scientists, impact scientists and communication experts, and will work on the projects that will be operated in collaboration with European and non-European partners, often under the umbrella of the Horizon Europe Program and in collaboration with international organizations. Therefore, the position offers the possibility to travel for project-related activities and meetings.

Key Duties
* Perform impact assessment research and suggest innovative approaches
* Conduct ESG, microeconomic, & climate data analysis and visualization
* Write public reports and scientific papers
* Engage with partners and stakeholders
* Support decision-makers in the integration of climate services in their mitigation and adaptation strategies
* Manage tasks autonomously and learn how to coordinate activities internally and cross-institutionally
Requirements
* Education
o A postgraduate degree in economics, applied economics, data sciences or similar filed
o Advanced knowledge of statistics and econometrics
* Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
o Ability to critically analyse strategies and data
o Ability to synthesize the results in written, visual, and verbal forms
o Experience in presenting to an audience (technical or not)
* Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
o Previous work or research on the topic of climate change, ESG, sustainability or related fields
o Knowledge of a Geographical Information System (GIS) software
o Previous experience with working on EU-funded projects will be appreciated
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
