JOB PURPOSE

The site SSHE Manager has overall responsibility for managing Personal and Process Safety, Construction Safety, Security, Health, & Environment improvement activities to achieve excellence at all levels in the site.

S/he is responsible for all Unilever employees, contractors and third-party suppliers across the sites. The SSHE Manager works across the organization to deliver SSHE technology, tools, and work processes to help site leader and management across the SHE risks and Plan to excel in SSHE performance. S/he also has responsibility for overseeing legal SSHE compliance of the site in geography.

Unilever has robust external and internal commitments for protecting people and the planet and the SSHE community facilitates progress against those targets. Success is determined by a strong SSHE culture in the site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sets a SSHE Implementation Plan to deliver against the European and Global SSHE Strategies

1. Sets goals and plans to meet cluster and SSHE commitments.
2. Manages the site SSHE team responsible to deliver results
3. Maintains a strong network across the geography to manage risk of upcoming changes and builds plans into existing priorities particularly in new capital projects, new business acquisitions and divestitures

Governance to drive strong SSHE culture

4. Leads the culture change process for SSHE across the site
5. Designs and operates a governance process to track site performance against all SSHE targets. Works across the organization to ensure progress meets company expectations
6. Leads the auditing program across the site ensuring simplification and full compliance
7. Ensures global governance tools like PAR, SPR, Safety Pillar, SHENet, MOC, SIRA, Power BI and others represent the geography accurately. Maintains local governance tools as necessary.
8. Oversees sites legal compliance and ensure they meet all local/national regulatory requirements and Unilever standards
9. Manages change to balance risk according to proper Management of change procedure.
10. Ensure appropriate controls are in place
11. Ensure the Security Minimum Mandatory Requirements are in place on site
12. Leads the Security Site compliance

Maintains the documented standards, policies, and practices to ensure SSHE compliance with regulatory and Unilever expectations.

13. Supports global reporting with data and verbiage for internal and external company reports for SSHE technologies ensuring accuracy and brand protection. Develops local reporting and conduct trend analysis from incidents, near misses and safe behaviour observations
14. Translates global standards into local language and ensures compliance

Capability Building programs

15. Oversees professional SSHE skills within SSHE and across site team by determining training needs and assisting in delivery of training programs
16. Maintains local expertise in specific SSHE technologies like machinery safety, mechanized material handling equipment safety (MMHE), safe driving, office safety, safe travel, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, emergency planning and response, security, process safety, water, air and waste compliance requirements and others.

Participates in Incident Management, Emergency Planning and Response

17. Advises line management in all safety, security, and environmental accident/incident investigations
18. Assists the Leadership Team in leading and developing the internal Incident Management committees and Central SHE committee.
19. Supports site leaders in in serious incident investigation and analysis
20. Leads critical root cause investigations for complex incidents

Operates within the boundaries of SSHE business expectations in cost, capital, and headcount

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

21. Master’s degree in occupational health & safety
22. Minimum 5 years of experience in SHE roles and Supply Chain operations
23. Strong knowledge of Spanish local regulations and compliance
24. Strong expertise in process safety and construction safety
25. Leadership seniority to influence senior stakeholders and people management skills
26. Influencing skills and international business/cultural sensitivity
27. Experience in manufacturing or FMCG environments
28. Working knowledge using SSHE IT tools and how those tools integrate into other functional work processes
29. Proven track record of analytical thinking and project management
30. Technology experience in engineering, modelling, data analysis, manufacturing chemistries, environmental operations, environmental impact on the planet, and how those technologies across Unilever impact risk is beneficial.
31. Good observation and auditing skills
32. Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities simultaneously
