DesignAgency is seeking experienced candidates for an immediate opening for the position of Project Manager: Design. DesignAgency relies on the Project Manager: Design to facilitate the entire process of project management including planning, design development, construction documentation, construction administration and project close out. Successful candidates must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, tools and techniques required to meet project requirements and expectations. The Project Manager: Design is responsible for managing the scope of work, executing the required work with a team, monitoring the quality of produced work, identifying and mitigating risks, and closing out successful projects.
In addition, the Project Manager: Design will be in charge of mentoring the junior designers and technologists in the production team to achieve the production of high-quality documents within the required timeframe.
The Project Manager: Design reports to the Senior Project Manager: Design – Team Lead and will be recognized for their ability to oversee the design process from start to finish.
Roles and Responsibilities Design
* Produce high-quality drawing and documentation sets that reduce rework, errors and omissions
* Master, apply and comply with relevant codes, regulations and standards
* Maintain consistent and high-quality minutes, reports, orders, record and documentation practices
* Solve technical, materials and construction problems elegantly and effectively
* Establish project standards and information to set up accurate project documents that can be utilized and coordinated throughout the phases
* Coordinate project schedule milestones within the project’s scope, time and budget while maintaining the Design intent, work quality and client expectations
* Use of project management tools and techniques to assist the team and project management like drawings list, meeting minutes, project update logs, gantt charts, etc.
* Coordination or production of specification manual when required.
* Represent the Barcelona team in the internal Spec Committee and other committees that directly relate to the role
* Coordinate and collaborate in value engineering process when required.
* Attend consultant and construction coordination meetings, conference calls, etc. and relaying info back to Design Director or Senior Designers in form of minutes and / or scheduled meetings.
* Answer and review RFI's, change orders, shop drawings, site instructions with assistance when required.
* Manage purchasing and oversee installation when required.
* Assist in creating and archiving the templates and typical details for future project use for internal database.
* Utilize established standard steps and process on how to issue and archive drawings and specs.
Leadership
* Advise and mentor project designer(s) and technicians
* Safeguard the interests of clients and the firm in interactions with consultants, suppliers and contractors
* Promote awareness of changes in codes and regulations
* Promote awareness of excellent materials, techniques, suppliers and contractors
* Mentor project designer(s) and technicians to improve productivity and knowledge.
* Initiate opportunities to increase the firm’s design capabilities.
* Contribute to the development of systems and processes for improved design, technical quality, or client service.
* Create sound relationships with colleagues, clients, contractors, and suppliers, to promote repeat business
Management
* CAD Standards: establish, evolve and maintain construction standards.
* Quality assurance and risk management.
* Manage, or support the management, of projects to achieve client and firm objectives.
* Manage personal and team time to project schedules.
* Responsible for project close-out and integration
* Assign tasks and schedule deliverables to project designers on the production team.
* Review technicians’ and project designers’ (Production Team) time sheets.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be in possession of an
* Architectural Technologist Diploma or equivalent
* Minimum of two years of working experience as a Project Manager within interior design is required in addition to prior industry experience in a related technical or design role
* Familiarity with North American and European codes and construction practices and materials is advantageous.
* Professional working experience with AutoCAD and Revit is required
* Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required
* Experience using Sketch-Up, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign are beneficial.
