Summary
The Registered Nurse is responsible for departmental functions aligned with PM Pediatrics' mission, vision, and goals. This role involves applying pediatric nursing skills in an urgent care setting, assisting with primary patient care under physician supervision, and maintaining effective relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, volunteers, and vendors.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations.
2. Obtain medical histories, vital signs, and prioritize patient care.
3. Perform procedures such as venipuncture, IV insertion, urinary catheterization, administer medications, and assist physicians with patient care within scope of practice.
4. Stay knowledgeable in pediatric pharmacology.
5. Participate as part of the patient care team, assisting within scope of practice.
6. Conduct monthly quality control checks and assist with lab testing.
7. Assist with patient positioning, comfort, and x-ray procedures.
8. Maintain medical supplies, instruments, and sterilization equipment.
9. Follow safety protocols and respond to emergencies, notifying physicians promptly.
10. Establish rapport with patients, families, and team members.
11. Follow policies, report needed changes, and contribute to team efforts.
12. Ensure a safe, secure, and confidential environment, complying with HIPAA.
13. Participate in continuing education and professional development.
14. Contribute to the practice's reputation by taking ownership of tasks and seeking value-added opportunities.
15. Handle patient complaints and assist in service recovery.
16. Support physician efficiency metrics to improve care flow and throughput.
Qualifications:
1. Experience in pediatrics required; pediatric ER, hospital, or urgent care preferred.
2. Active nursing license in the state or a compact license.
3. Proficiency with nursing procedures like IV placement, catheterization, and medication administration.
4. Current BLS certification; PALS preferred.
5. Knowledge of medical terminology, equipment, and clinic procedures.
6. Ability to assess pediatric patients rapidly and act calmly in emergencies.
7. Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
