Job Title: Senior Postdoctoral Researcher
Research area: Nanostructured Functional Materials
Description of Group / Project: The Nanostructured Functional Materials group (Nanosfun) at ICN2 develops novel (supra)molecular and polymeric nanomaterials for applications in Health, Energy, and Environment. A key focus is on bioinspired materials for tissue regeneration, brain diseases, and environmental remediation, utilizing materials based on catechol molecules known for their adhesive properties, biocompatibility, and scalability. The role involves leading research on these materials for health and environmental applications, developing new materials, characterizing them, and conducting in vitro and preclinical assays. Responsibilities include securing funding, supervising students, fostering collaborations, and publishing research.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Lead research on bio-inspired materials for health and environmental remediation, focusing on tissue regeneration, infection, and cancer therapy.
* Develop new materials, establish research strategies, supervise students, and collaborate with academic and industrial partners.
* Publish findings, secure external funding, and participate in scientific communities.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Mentor junior researchers and postdocs.
* Contribute to strategic planning, publications, and funding acquisition.
* Establish and maintain collaborations, ensure safety and ethical standards, and manage laboratory resources.
Requirements:
* Education: PhD in Materials Science or similar; knowledge of tech transfer is a plus.
* Knowledge: Nanoparticle, coating, membrane production; in vitro assays; preclinical trials; tech transfer; industry collaboration.
* Experience: Leading bio-inspired materials research, developing advanced/polymeric materials, material synthesis and characterization, biomedical and environmental applications, preclinical/in vitro assays, project management, supervision, collaboration, and publications.
Personal Competences:
* Leadership, strategic thinking, excellent communication skills in English, Spanish, and Catalan.
