Atradius Collections is one of the world’s leading commercial debt collection agencies and a world-class credit management organization. Currently, we are looking for an experienced new colleague to fill the position of an in-house lawyer (Legal Advisor) in our central Legal and Compliance Department. The person holding this position will provide expert legal advice (with a focus on commercial law and contract law) related to the company’s day-to-day operations. Such person will work closely with the business to ensure its success and profitability.
The position is within the Iberia & South America region and the North America region which comprises several countries including Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Such person will need to work in an international environment, close to the business operations while still being involved in high-level development projects.
The Legal Advisor is expected to be based in Madrid and will report to the Legal & Compliance Senior Manager.

Your Key Responsibilities
* Provide legal, regulatory, and compliance advice to Atradius Collections’ day-to-day activity in the Iberia & South America region and the North America region. Take care of all legal topics in assigned regions.
* Draft, negotiate, and review a wide variety of contracts, particularly service level agreements, supply agreements, accounts receivable management service agreements, account receivables stand-by servicing agreements, referral agreements, and agent agreements.
* Provide guidance and support on a variety of corporate governance matters in assigned regions such as preparing minutes of the Board of Directors and the Shareholders’ meetings, coordinating the process of approval of annual accounts, and making respective registrations in relevant Commercial Registers.
* Contribute to data protection matters in relation to adherence to data protection legislation and internal procedures. Advise on data processing agreements, undertake privacy impact assessments, advise on international data transfers, and assist in responding to data subjects’ requests.
* Proactively contribute to enhance compliance policies and procedures to continually improve internal controls to comply with laws and regulations.
* Monitor industry developments and maintain knowledge of new and amended laws and regulations that may impact Atradius Collections’ operations in assigned regions.
* Provide support to the Group Compliance Department in managing the risk of international sanctions, in particular support the internal sanctions screening process, and provide assistance to local compliance and other internal stakeholders on sanctions-related issues.
* Collaborate with business colleagues to achieve targeted business results while managing legal risks.
* Maintain strong connections with other members of the Legal and Compliance Department, share best practices, and understand current and future needs.
* Perform other legal tasks and projects assigned by the Legal & Compliance Senior Manager.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following profile :
* A university degree in Law, good academic credentials, and post-qualification experience.
* 2-4 years of relevant experience as either in-house counsel or an attorney in a law firm.
* Previous experience in an international or global organization will be an advantage.
* Experience in working with contracts and corporate governance matters.
* Knowledge of GDPR will be an advantage.
* Fluent English and Spanish spoken and written (Portuguese would be an advantage but is not a requirement).
* Ability to work cross-border, learn quickly, take initiative, work proactively, be resourceful, take on additional responsibility, and prioritize under pressure.
* Detail-oriented, organized, reliable, resourceful with a focus on co-piloting the business.
* Strong team player but also able to work independently.
* Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
