Context And Mission
Within the Earth Sciences department, the Data and Diagnostics Team develops an ecosystem of R packages to evaluate earth system data at different timescales from subseasonal to decadal, comparing the model outputs to observations. The R ecosystem is embeded in several operational workflows for different national and European projects.
The successful applicant will join the BSC Computational Earth Sciences group, within the Earth Sciences Department, to contribute to the development and optimization of the tools, their integration in operational context and coordinate the team of developers in close interaction with the scientists of the other groups of the department involved in the scientific analysis of the data.
Moreover, the applicant will also participate in the networking activities around the R ecosystem, to ensure participation of the department in European and national research calls.

* Coordinate the R development unit
* Contribute to the development strategy of the tools outside of the department
Requirements
* Education
o Having a Masters degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Physics or related discipline
* Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
o Experience in developing in R language
o Knowledge of climate data formats
o HPC environment knowledge
* Competences
o Capacity to interact and build strong relations with both climate and computer scientists.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to take initiatives, prioritize tasks and work under set deadlines.
o Ability to work both independently and within a team.
o Ability to learn and adapt to multiple programming languages easily.
o Fluency in English, both speaking and writing

* The position will be located at BSC within the Earth Sciences Department
