The Senior Data Engineer – Aspentech IP.21 Lead is responsible for the implementation, optimization, and support of industrial data infrastructure centered around the AspenTech IP.21 historian platform. This role focuses on enabling reliable data collection, historization, and reporting across manufacturing environments, while ensuring seamless integration with connected systems.
The engineer will lead a small team of data engineers and act as the technical authority on IP.21, driving best practices, governance, and scalable data solutions. This position requires close collaboration with IT/OT teams, process engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure high-quality, accessible industrial data for analytics and operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the implementation, configuration, and support of AspenTech IP.21 historian systems.
Oversee data collection, historization, and reporting processes across industrial environments.
Manage and mentor a team of 3–5 engineers, ensuring delivery quality and technical alignment.
Design and optimize SQL-based reporting solutions for operational and business use cases.
Configure and maintain key IP.21 modules (AORA, CIM-IOs, Cloud Connect, ONE Process Explorer, Excel add-ins).
Ensure reliable connectivity between data sources (e.g., PLCs, SCADA systems) and IP.21.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (IT/OT, Manufacturing, Engineering) to align data architecture with business needs.
Identify and resolve system performance, data quality, and integration issues.
Support integration with external platforms and enterprise systems.
Establish best practices for historian governance, data modeling, and reporting standards.
Required Skills & Experience
Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
3–5 years of hands‐on experience with AspenTech IP.21 historian platform.
Strong expertise in IP.21 modules: AORA, CIM-IOs, Cloud Connect, ONE Process Explorer, and Excel add-ins.
Advanced proficiency in SQL, with a focus on reporting and data extraction.
Proven experience in industrial data systems, including data collection, historization, and reporting.
Experience leading or mentoring small technical teams.
Strong understanding of OT data flows and industrial automation environments.

Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments is preferred.
