MISSION
• Responsible for safe watchkeeping, control, and maintenance of engine room mechanical equipment and propulsion equipment.
• Maintain routine documentation as required by the Company.
• Act as MS (Maintenance Supervisor) or BOX (Ballast Control Operator) as defined in IMO resolution A.1079 (28) when required.
TASKS
• Report to 2nd Engineer DP.
• Be familiar with and maintain awareness of relevant Company requirements and the latest industry codes and standards, including statutory rules and regulations.
• Ensure all workspace activities are carried out in a manner consistent with Company policies and Vessel Management Manual.
• Ensure safe and efficient operation of engine room machinery during own duty watch.
• Ensure DP engine room operations are carried out as per Company procedures.
• Implement the Asset Management Operative System (AMOS) to survey, test, and maintain all ship machinery/equipment, including Emergency and Safety systems.
• Conduct analysis tasks for cooling water, sanitary water, diesel oil, and other equipment oils; participate in bunkering/offloading of fuel/oil and vessel refueling.
• Advise 2nd Engineer DP for efficient and timely ordering of spares for own charge equipment.
• Perform duties within the vessel emergency team as per Emergency Preparedness Manual.
• Report any unsafe acts, conditions, near misses, or incidents to 2nd Engineer DP.
• Immediately inform the Chief Engineer DP/2nd Engineer DP of any incident or condition as per instructions.
• Ensure no major actions are undertaken without informing the Chief Engineer DP/2nd Engineer DP.
• Maintain vessel compliance with class and statutory legislation and environmental regulations (MARPOL).
• Record engine logbook during own duty watch and take over the watch as per procedures.
• Daily calculation of R.O.B.
Authority
• Carry out watch in the engine room.
Qualifications
• STCW required certificates, National CoC Reg. III/1, and endorsement.
• Completion of all required training and certifications as per Training Matrix.
• Dynamic Position Training as per Company Procedure.
• MOU stability course (if applicable).
Experience
• Minimum two (2) years' offshore experience for Officer in Charge of Engineering Watch. Note: For Italian Seafarers, the equivalent designations are "Secondo Ufficiale di Macchina" for Seniority Expert and "Terzo Ufficiale di Macchina" for Junior.
Required Documents include various STCW certificates, OPITO courses, and other safety and competency certifications.
