Technology transfer in peptide-based biomaterials for biomedical sciences, develop functional biomaterials for biomedical applications, namely drug delivery and biosensors

Research Field Engineering » Biomedical engineering Education Level Master Degree or equivalent

Skills/Qualifications
* Participate in the management of the research group by contributing to the preparation and writing of research project proposals.
* Produce and characterize electroresponsive nanostructures such as nanofibers, nanoparticles, hydrogels, and nanotubes using different material synthesis and processing techniques.
* TWork with peptide-based materials and optimize their self-assembly properties for the development of functional biomaterials.
* Synthesize and characterize hydrogels prepared from biopolymers and other polymers combined with nanomaterials for biomedical applications.
* Perform biocompatibility tests with human cells, as well as electrochemical characterization and electrically stimulated release studies.
* Conduct bacterial assays and evaluate the antibacterial properties of the developed materials.
* Present the obtained results in reports, group meetings, and conferences, and contribute to writing scientific articles.
Specific Requirements
* ASelf-assembly of anticancer peptides and their structural characterization using SEM, circular dichroism, FTIR and molecular dynamics simulations.
* Synthesis and characterization of nanostructures such as nanoparticles, nanofibers and hydrogels based on biopolymers, polymers and nanomaterials.
* Fabrication and characterization of stimuli-responsive biomaterials, including electroresponsive materials.
* Investigation of controlled drug delivery systems (antibiotics, anticancer drugs and other bioactive compounds) from the developed biomaterials.
* Application of various characterization techniques such as SEM, UV-Vis, FTIR, Raman, DLS, electrochemical assays (cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry), rheology, and mechanical characterization (tensile and piezoelectric properties).
* Evaluation of the antibacterial properties of the developed biomaterials using microbiological assays.
