Position Summary The department seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses such as:

Instructor Responsibilities
\n
Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Instructors conduct preparation, delivery, proctoring, grading of lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).

Appointment Conditions An appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. Eligibility to work in the United States is required.

Compensation
\n
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For a Master’s degree, the range is $5,507–6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually near the minimum of the range.
\n
Anticipated Semester The pool is open continuously and positions are filled as needed. The number of positions varies by semester. Appointments are typically made just prior to the start of each academic term. Faculty may need to begin teaching on short notice.

Fall 2026: August 19 – December 22, 2026
\n
Spring 2027: January 15 – May 26, 2027
\n
Required Qualifications
\n
Education: Master’s degree in Physics or a closely related field from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.
\n
Experience
\n
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
\n
Preferred Qualifications
\n
Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations.
\n
Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
\n
Experience with laboratory instruction.
\n
