At Civir, we are looking for a systems engineer to strengthen an established team within an important global digital transformation project for a banking institution.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the configuration, installation, and maintenance of Unix operating systems (e.g., AIX, Solaris, HP-UX) and VCS clusters.
* Apply patches and updates to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure.
* Implement and manage security measures to protect systems from vulnerabilities and threats, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, industry regulations, and security best practices.
* Provide technical support and guidance, working closely with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and support.
* Monitor and optimize system performance, including hardware configuration, kernel parameter adjustments, and resource management.
* Provide prompt BAU support for incidents and requests, including root cause analysis and preventive measures.
* Investigate and resolve complex system issues, such as hardware failures, software bugs, and performance bottlenecks.
* Implement monitoring tools and scripts (e.g., Bash) to proactively manage system health and performance.
* Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
* Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of RHEL6, RHEL7, and RHEL8, with 6+ years of experience.
* Extensive experience with VERITAS CLUSTER SERVER (VCS) in large-scale data center environments, including Storage Foundation, Volume Manager, Veritas Infoscale, and Cluster File System (3+ years).
* Ability to test, upgrade, and manage VCS, with thorough documentation skills.
* Experience migrating VCS clusters (host-based and array-based migrations).
* Strong experience with VMware infrastructure operation.
* Experience patching Linux servers to remediate vulnerabilities.
* Proficiency with automation tools such as Ansible, YAML, and Puppet.
* Experience migrating, upgrading, and rebuilding legacy Linux servers (from RHEL6 & RHEL7 to RHEL8).
* Familiarity with change management processes and participation in change board meetings.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Experience in Solaris and AIX administration.
Certifications: RHCSA / RHCE
Additional Skills and Experience
* Experience using ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools.
* Familiarity with development tools like Git and Gitlab.
* Experience with Red Hat Satellite administration.
* Exposure to monitoring tools such as Dynatrace.
* Advanced English proficiency (required).
