Overview
Canonical is seeking a Product Manager - Desktop for Ubuntu Desktop. This is a remote role based in the EMEA region. Location: remote in the EMEA region.
Responsibilities
* Drive the vision of the desktop experience
* Lead the roadmap of the desktop product
* Drive partnerships with silicon vendors and OEMs
* Contribute to the largest Linux open source community
* Define future business models considering the competitive landscape
* Engage with the Ubuntu user community, key partners, hardware manufacturers, and leading customers to enable commercial success and drive go-to-market activity
* Lead the product development lifecycle, review priorities and goals
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, marketing, sales)
* Conduct market research, analyze industry trends, and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities
* Communicate product vision, status updates, and key decisions to ensure alignment
* Conduct usability testing, analyze user feedback, and iterate on the product
* Collaborate on go-to-market strategies, product documentation, and training
* Support sales in winning opportunities through customer feedback and participation in meetings
What we are looking for in you
* Exceptional academic results at high school and university
* Understanding of Linux and the open source software community
* Understanding of computer architecture, application development, enterprise IT, cloud or devices
* Passion to write about technologies and the tech landscape
* Strong work ethic and alignment with the open source movement
* Curiosity and a habit of continuous learning
* Strong sense of ownership
* Problem solving and ability to innovate
* Outstanding English communication skills (verbal and written)
* Ability to travel internationally up to 4 times a year for company events up to two weeks
Nice-to-have skills
* Familiarity with the Linux open source ecosystem including window managers (GNOME, KDE), identity management solutions, and development frameworks
* Familiarity with silicon, IHV, ISV, ODM/OEMs, and cloud service providers
* Familiarity with data center, embedded, and connected device technology and ecosystems
