Role Overview:
Responsible for developing and delivering the decarbonization and water stewardship strategy globally. The approach will rely on increased energy efficiency and renewable energy options, in line with Iberostar's goal to reach carbon neutrality across its operations by 2030. The strategy will focus on minimizing water consumption by hotels and then on reducing water consumption in the supply chain.
In this highly visible and strategic role, you will evaluate the current product suite looking for opportunities related to water and climate and partner with climate and sustainability service offerings to determine product alignment. This role is critical to Iberostar's brand and its commitment to its customers by partnering with them on critical climate initiatives. This leader will work closely with our business units, government organizations, industry, and trading partners.
What will your day-to-day look like?
The Decarbonization & Water Efficiency Manager will report directly to the Global Director Sustainability Integration & Impact and will be based in Palma de Mallorca (Spain).
Responsibilities include:
* Engaging with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure delivery of innovative energy and water solutions to enhance our current and future solutions.
* Coordinating the energy and water submetering campaign as well as the development of baselines to measure progress.
* Coordinating with the Wave of Change Hub, specifically with the Global Director of Sustainability & Impact for the calculation of Scope 3 emissions.
* Creating and developing new water and energy solutions to ensure our buildings can be resilient and to strengthen our sustainability goals. This includes evaluating options for RECs or exclusive renewable energy PPAs and recommendations for electrifications across operations.
* Identifying a governance and measurement framework including KPIs to establish accountability, measure progress, and establish a benchmark from which to improve. Additionally, aligning KPIs and reporting with the SBTi protocol for 1.5˚C.
* Communicating the strategy to colleagues and stakeholders in a way that is easy to understand.
* Continuously developing yourself as a climate and water professional, staying up to date on emerging topics and trends to drive the creation of innovative solutions.
The ideal person for this position....
Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and at least 10 years of experience in energy and water consultancy.
* Leadership skills to be an effective advocate on climate change issues; should have high energy, a strong work ethic, and the initiative to define and execute new public programs.
* Principles and practices of climate change planning and project management.
* Previous experience developing policies and programs across energy, water, land use, transportation, and other activities that generate greenhouse gas emissions.
* Legislative developments affecting climate and water programs and funding at all levels.
* Fluent in English and Spanish.
* Availability to travel occasionally internationally.

* Experience handling multiple complex and varied assignments.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of staff.
