We are looking for an **Optical Communications Engineer **to design, develop, and optimize advanced optical communication systems for high-speed data transmission.
**Tasks to be performed**:
- Design and implement free-space optical communication systems, including transmitters, receivers, and optical amplifiers.
- Develop simulation models to predict system performance and optimize design parameters.
- Conduct experimental tests and evaluations to validate system designs and ensure performance standards are met.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optical components with electronic and software systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to optical signal integrity, noise, and loss.
- Document design processes, test results, and technical specifications for future reference and regulatory compliance.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in optical communication technologies and incorporate relevant innovations into projects.
- **MSc or PhD. degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in Optical Communications.**:
- Proficiency in **optical communication theory** and **free-space** optics technology.
- Experience with optical modulation techniques and coherent optics.
- Familiarity with optics and photonic components like lasers, photodetectors, and optical amplifiers as well as beam steering technologies and techniques.
- Strong background in simulation tools such as **VPIphotonics, OptiSystem**, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with optical test equipment like optical spectrum analyzers, **BER testers, VNAs and OTDR.**:
- Understanding of resilience towards optical threats, including mitigation strategies for physical layer attacks and system vulnerabilities.
- Knowledge of signal processing algorithms for optical communications.
- Expertise in complementary fields such as quantum communications and satellite communications would be highly valuable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong proficiency in **English.**
