The Health & Safety Specialist will be a key member of the HR team, responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations across all projects and operations. The role includes risk assessments, development and review of Health & Safety Plans and procedures, field audits, incident investigation, coordination with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory authorities. The Specialist will ensure consistent application of safety standards and promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
Responsibilities
*
* Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) in Projects Preparation and Review of:
o
o Project Health & Safety Plans.
o Project-specific risk assessments.
o Safe work procedures for projects.
o On-site presence during critical phases to review the above.
* Coordination:
o
o With the client’s Health & Safety Coordinator on conflict points.
o Review of subcontractors’ preventive documentation.
o Coordination of OHS training and induction for project workers.
* Compliance and Monitoring:
o
o Field compliance audits.
o PPE management: definition, approval, and control.
o Management of safety non-conformities.
o Liaison with Labor Inspectorate on-site and with external auditors.
* Legal and Regulatory:
o
o Identification of country-specific legal requirements for health and safety for national teams.
o Coordination with legal advisors or local consultants when necessary.
o Verification of client-specific HSE requirements.
o Management of mandatory notifications to local authorities (where applicable).
* Reporting:
o
o Frequency and severity index.
o Accidents with and without time off.
o Reported near misses.
o Training compliance.
o Level of CAE compliance.
Skills
*
* Solid knowledge of international HSE regulations and standards (ISO 45001, local legislation).
* Experience in risk assessments, incident investigation, and implementation of preventive measures.
* Skilled in preparing and reviewing Health & Safety Plans, safe work procedures, and project audits.
* Strong ability to manage PPE, safety non-conformities, and compliance reporting.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with multicultural teams and contractors.
* Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented with a focus on safety culture and continuous improvement.
* Adaptable to diverse legal frameworks and operational environments.
Qualifications
*
* Higher Technician in Occupational Risk Prevention (Técnico Superior en PRL).
* Technical or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is a plus.
* Experience in industrial environments is desirable.
* Fluent in English.
Experience
*
* Minimum 3-5 years in a similar role. Experience in industrial projects and technical worksites.
* Experience managing CAE systems.
* Experience in accident investigation and liaison with labor inspections.
Technical Competencies
*
* Strong knowledge of Spanish occupational health and safety regulations.
* Experience with CAE platforms.
* Knowledge of working at heights, confined spaces, electrical and mechanical hazards. xpzdshu
