The Position in a NutshellWe are looking for a Systems Test Engineer with a background in Military Aircraft Communication Systems, especially focused on Aircraft Tactical Datalinks and also with some experience on Connectivity, Safety Comms and Mission Comms.
The roles and responsibilities lay within the IV&V activities with the final target of demonstrating the correct system's performance and providing the evidence needed for the subsequent testing and clearance processes.
The testing is performed at different levels, from Virtual Testing environments up to Laboratory Subsystem and Global System Integration Rigs, and occasionally provides support to on‐aircraft Ground & Flight testing if required.
The team supports all the different programs within the Spanish Airbus Defence and Space portfolio (Eurofighter, A400M, Derivatives, Light & Medium, Eurodrone, SIRTAP, Helicopters, FCAS, etc.).

TCOMS – Tactical Communication Systems: e.G., Link 16, Link 22, VMF
SCOMS – Safety Communication Systems: e.G., SATCOM, Audio Management Systems, V/UHF Radios
MCOMS – Mission Communication Systems: e.G., UAV Primary/Secondary Data Links, payload Video/Datalinks
CONNECTIVITY Systems – ALIMS (AIRCRAFT LINKS INTEGRATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM) and JRE (Joint Range Extension)
Responsibilities / Main Tasks
Analysis of technical documentation of all the above-mentioned Systems, combined with the Test Requirements documentation generated by the Design Office, to build a coherent set of Rig Test Cases/Procedures to be executed at Rigs, together with the creation of the Requirements Specification of those Rigs and their associated Validation Procedures.
Creation of all other Test Datasets necessary prior to the run time test execution, including the creation of Simulation Requirements (for TSS), Test Scripts, Initialisation Data files, Tactical Scenarios, etc.
Execution of the required test steps as described in the Test Procedures, including pre‐run time activities (Crypto loading, Sw Loading, Initialisation, etc.) and run‐time itself (operation of the Rig Test Support System, e.G., MaTE, AIDASS, SEAS, etc.) and other Lab Test Equipment (DataBus Analyzers, Datalink Simulators, data recording and downloading).
Analysis of systems' behaviour and creation of Test Reporting documentation.
Declaration of Equipment/System Problem Reports and management of their lifecycle, including root cause investigations. Management of associated tools for controlling and reporting processes (e.G., DOORS, Octane, Dimensions PCMS, TestNet, DMS, PRMS, Agilo, etc.).
Specification of ad‐hoc Test Tools (for decoding, recording, translation, emulation, automation, etc.), including tool qualification.
Skills and Qualifications
Degree in Telecommunications, Industrial Electronics Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering.
At least 2 years of experience with Tactical Datalinks and protocols (L16, L22, VMF, JREAP).
Strong technical knowledge of the COMMS Systems Under Test, independent from the rig environment.
Experience with Requirements interpretation, partitioning and allocation to build segregated Test Procedures and other Test Data Sets.
Knowledge of generic or specific analysis software tools and problem investigation skills.
Hands‐on knowledge of Lab Equipment (sniffers, 1553 DataBus Analyzers, Link 16 Simulators – TIGER, MIGATO, TACTX, etc.).
Experience with Test Support Systems controlling execution sessions (recording, visualization, automatic scripting, etc.).
Advanced level in English and Spanish, technical and general.
