The IT Asset Management (ITAM) Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the technical and operational aspects of the organisation’s IT asset management ecosystem. This role combines hands‑on technical expertise with process design and governance, ensuring accurate asset data, lifecycle visibility, and alignment with corporate and compliance objectives. The ITAM Engineer will also drive the definition of ITAM policies and support other teams in formalizing related procedures across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
* Configure, maintain, and optimise ITAM tools and integrations (e.g., Lansweeper, USU, CMDB systems) to ensure accurate discovery, inventory, and lifecycle tracking of IT assets.
* Develop automation and reconciliation processes to improve data quality and reporting accuracy.
* Lead the implementation of lifecycle management processes covering acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and disposal.
* Define, document, and implement ITAM standards and procedures aligned with ISO 55000 and ITIL best practices.
* Collaborate with procurement, finance, and security teams to align asset governance and cost control.
* Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure data integrity and compliance.
* Create and maintain dashboards and reports on asset inventory, utilization, and compliance status.
* Provide technical guidance and training to other IT teams on asset lifecycle and data management.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
* 3+ years of experience in IT Asset Management, IT Operations, or Service Management.
* Technical expertise in asset discovery and inventory tools (example Lansweeper, USU, or similar).
* Experience integrating ITAM tools with CMDBs, procurement, and financial systems.
* Proven ability to define and implement ITAM/SAM policies and automation workflows.
* Familiarity with frameworks such as ISO 55000 and ITIL.
* Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Certifications
* CITAM, CHAMP, or CSAM certification.
* Experience with ISO 55000 or ISO/IEC 19770 implementation.
