The Hardware Trainee will support the development and validation of electronic hardware systems while gaining hands-on experience in battery technologies. This role contributes to Bold's purpose by reinforcing the engineering team and fostering the next generation of talent capable of delivering innovative electrification solutions.

In our Applied Engineering division, we are an integral part of the design & development process for our high-performance customers including Formula 1, Motorsport and Automotive. We contribute across all areas of engineering and in multiple different specialisms including composite & materials, bodywork, aero & structural, powertrain, and tooling.
In our Technology division, we specialize in R&D; of state of the art of battery systems. Taking projects from initial concepts to production: we are designing, developing, testing, and manufacturing the next generation of high-performance batteries to innovative projects for multiple industries. We aim to generate a real impact on the future of electric mobility.
What You Will Do
- Hardware Design Support
Assist in the design and development of hardware components including schematics and PCB layouts.
Collaborate in component selection, calculations and simulations under supervision.
Help maintain CAD libraries and documentation for hardware development.
Learn and apply industry standards and best practices in electronic design.
- Prototyping & Lab Testing
Assemble and test prototypes to validate design performance and identify improvements.
Support hands-on lab work using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies and soldering tools.
Document test setups and results clearly for team review.
Assist in solving basic hardware issues during validation and development phases.
- Lab & Equipment Support
Contribute to the organisation and maintenance of lab equipment and consumables.
Track inventory of connectors, wires, PCBs, and shared tools.
Support lab safety practices and cleanliness.
Ensure traceability of prototypes and validation samples.

- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Industrial, Computer or Telecommunication Engineering
- 1 year of experience in a similar role in Formula Student
Desirable Skills And Additional Experience
- Knowledge in Schematic & PCB design (Altium)
- Knowledge in High Voltage systems and vehicle architectures
- Analog/digital circuits, SI/EMC
- Fluent in English
