Freelance Country Lead (Spain) – Business Development & Market Expansion

We're expanding to Spain — and we're not looking for an employee. We're looking for a builder.
We are launching our presence in the Spanish market and are seeking a high-caliber freelance partner to act as our local liaison, commercial driver, and future Country Director. This is a unique opportunity to build a market from the ground up, backed by an established international recruitment group with strong delivery capabilities.
The Opportunity
You will be the face of the business in Spain, responsible for:
* Winning clients
* Building partnerships
* Laying the commercial foundations
* Scaling into a local team
This is not a "maintain and operate" role.
This is a build, grow, and lead mission.
What You'll Be Doing
Business Development & Market Entry
* Identify and win new clients across target industries (Tech, Non-Tech, Hospitality, etc.)
* Build a strong local network of decision-makers (Founders, HR Leaders, Hiring Managers)
* Drive end-to-end sales cycles: outreach → meetings → negotiation → closing
* Position HireHero / WorkEthix as a premium recruitment partner in Spain
Market Strategy & Positioning
* Act as our local market expert, advising on:
* Pricing strategies
* Competitive landscape
* Go-to-market approach
* Localize our offering to fit Spanish market dynamics
Delivery Coordination
* Act as the bridge between clients and our delivery teams in Athens
* Ensure high-quality execution and strong client satisfaction
* Maintain ownership of key accounts
Team Building (Phase 2)
* Identify and help hire the first local recruiters / consultants
* Contribute to building a high-performance local team
* Transition into a leadership role as the business scales
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience in Business Development / Sales / Recruitment (agency or B2B services)
* Strong network or ability to open doors fast in Spain
* Entrepreneurial mindset — you think like an owner, not an employee
* Comfortable operating in ambiguity and early-stage environments
* Track record of closing deals and generating revenue
* Fluent in Spanish & English
Bonus:
* Experience in recruitment or talent solutions
* Previously involved in market launches or scaling teams
