This role sits in the Asset Digitization (AD) Solutions team within the Process Automation (Operations Technology) function.
The Assets & Industrial Connectivity Engineer enables the physical connection of assets to our digital platform, assesses asset types to determine the most effective connectivity method, and collaborates with SMEs to identify or develop solutions when needed.
The engineer also creates comprehensive technical documentation and supports standardization, data strategy, and cross-functional activities.
Responsibilities
Select and define the most effective connectivity approach for each asset.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and installation standards.
Propose and support standardization of solutions across terminals.
Execute roadmaps, prepare documentation, and provide technical support.
Test and implement AD products in collaboration with AD SMEs, ensuring alignment with core AD principles: SCADA empowerment, digital foundations, modularity, scalability, agility, and cost-effectiveness.

Principal Accountabilities
Enable data flow from asset to servers.
Define and document Asset Digitization technical requirements to connect terminal assets to the Asset Digitization application.
Audit terminals to define technical needs, action plans, and applicable requirements before projects.
Configure hardware devices to enable data flow.
Transfer knowledge and conduct training for terminal staff.
Define User Defined Templates per equipment type (QCs, RTGs, TTs, RMGs, SCs, reefer containers, among others).
Classify relevant signals per equipment type with proper documentation.
Coordinate signal mapping tasks with OEMs.
Ensure signals are available within the Ignition platform during commissioning and testing.
Install or retrofit hardware and sensors to enable new signals per the User Defined Template.
Supervise and support deployment of AD solutions across terminals, collaborating with stakeholders, suppliers, and OEMs.
Present solutions and hardware to stakeholders, deliver training, and oversee deployment execution.
Provide support levels before and after Go-Live for AD products.
Participate in FAT and SAT, validating outcomes.
Support suppliers and OEMs with product and project documentation, including reviews.
Contribute to hardware architecture design, development, and implementation for AD products.
Shared responsibilities
Drive product performance and roadmap delivery with the AD team.
Develop and execute QA/test cases across AD, OT, PD&M;, and Terminal environments.
Contribute to documentation for new products, including requirements and deployment materials.
Ensure IT and OT standards adherence with the Technology team.
Support regulatory compliance and audit processes with AD and PA Leads.
Lead change management and promote product adoption across AD, OT PM&D;, Terminal, and Operations functions.
Provide end-user training in collaboration with the AD team.
Critical Qualifications/Skills/Experience
Minimum 5 years in technology and/or operations, preferably automation and/or transport/logistics.
Hands-on experience in real-time or industrial environments (e.g., logistics, shipping, port operations).
Strong understanding of port equipment, automated systems, controls, and industrial infrastructure.
PLC: intermediate to expert in programming/troubleshooting PLCs across brands (Siemens, ABB, Yaskawa, Fuji, Omron, GE Fanuc, etc.).
Industrial network protocols, device communication, IoT integration, edge computing, and related languages.
Experience managing network infrastructure, servers, firewalls, virtualization, databases, backups, and archiving.
Knowledge of cybersecurity practices in industrial/IoT environments.
Collaborative, problem-solving mindset with adaptability to new technologies.
Strategic thinking, stakeholder management, business analysis, and product optimization.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; extensive experience with SCADA (Ignition preferred).
Certification expected within six months of onboarding.
Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Linux.
Experience with cloud IoT platforms or big data ecosystems is a plus.
