 
        
        Cybersecurity Data Science Strategist – Unisys
Our client is a prestigious European institution acting as the primary executive branch of the European Union. The Institution is looking for a skilled Cybersecurity Data Science Strategist to join as part of their Cyber Security Operations Centre. The objectives of the unit are to support threat-based and incident-based decision-making through data analytics and reporting capabilities, and to provide capability development services to the unit, among others.
We are looking for a professional who can demonstrate advanced expertise in Cybersecurity and Information Technology (Networking, Infrastructure, Telecommunications), Data Science and Mathematics, and a robust experience in Digital Forensics and Incident response.
This role requires a combination of deep technical knowledge, proven orchestration capabilities, and project leadership capabilities in high-stakes environments.

Contract type: Freelancer agreement, with an initial contract duration, with the possibility for renewal
Workplace type: Remote within EU territory (besides 20 days of on-site office presence in Luxembourg or Brussels at the client's site, with a notice period of 7 days)
Key Responsibilities
Lead strategic cybersecurity projects leveraging machine learning and data science.
Identify emerging threats and recommend proactive measures.
Translate business and regulatory requirements into actionable technical deliverables that align with organisational goals.
Ensure seamless integration of deliverables with existing cybersecurity incident detection & response capabilities in both centralized and distributed operational environments.
Plan the implementation of technical architectures according to the Contracting Authority's cybersecurity strategy.
Engage with management and stakeholders on security matters and present high-level security architecture design.
Design and implement AI models tailored to contracting authority needs in cybersecurity.
Measure and benchmark the efficiency of existing and custom AI models for their use in cybersecurity.
Build training and validation datasets.
Define and implement the architecture of a data collection platform intended for reporting. Validate data quality and extract relevant patterns and metrics.
Experience
Extensive experience of at least 20 years in IT and Cybersecurity operations and projects.
Significant experience in leading high-impact Cybersecurity solutions delivery within international public organisations.
Proven experience with national or governmental CERTs.
Experience in contributing and developing recognised open-source projects in the field of cybersecurity (e.g. MISP, OpenTIDE, SAF, IntelMQ...).
Expertise in data collection and reporting tools & platforms, among which Power BI, Jupyter Notebook, Pandas, Numpy...
Python development with a focus on data science and machine learning.
Advanced Technical Competencies
Demonstrable ability in deploying and configuring network security controls (FW, proxy, WAF, IDS/IPS, VPN).
Thorough knowledge of Forensic Artefact Acquisition solutions.
Understanding of the principles of telecommunications cybersecurity. Ability to lead the design of Wide Area Networks and relevant security controls.
Understanding of the fundamental challenges of mobile device cybersecurity. Prior experience with Apple iOS forensic analysis techniques will be considered an asset.
Experience in understanding, implementing and developing technical standards (e.g. IETF RFC).
Ability to leverage machine learning and data science algorithms to deliver advanced cybersecurity services.

Ability to lead under pressure and in high-risk scenarios.
Ability to present in front of large audiences (e.g. Conferences) and share knowledge through trainings and workshops.
Eligibility and willingness to undergo a Security Clearance at EU-LEVEL SECRET is required for this role.
