Novartis' ambition is to be a recognized leader in Data, Analytics, AI & Platforms (DAP). The DAP group seeks a highly motivated Data Governance Director to lead Data Governance, Enterprise Data Management, Data Quality & Data Compliance for Novartis International. This role governs a centralized, multi-tenant data hub for countries to collaborate, share, and co-create data assets for analytics & AI industrialization.
This role collaborates closely with teams across AI & Data Science, Analytics, Marketing Platforms, and other divisions to govern data solutions across the commercial value chain of Novartis International. The person will stay updated on industry best practices for data governance, management, quality, and compliance, and build strong partnerships with DDIT to deploy end-to-end data management capabilities at scale.
About the Role

Key Responsibilities:
* Govern the centralized multi-tenant data hub for commercial, patient services, market access, digital, and next-generation data across Novartis International.
* Lead data capabilities management by partnering with diverse stakeholders within the international ecosystem.
* Strategize and implement enterprise data management (EDM) to support various organizational needs, providing strategic direction for design, development, and operation.
* Build capabilities to ensure efficiency, trust, and agility among data consumers through automation, centralized management, quality, classification, lineage, cataloging, and standardized frameworks.
* Proactively evolve data strategies to support future organizational objectives.
* Align data initiatives with executive leadership to optimize spending and maximize data value.
* Educate stakeholders on data value, availability, and proper use, automating and harmonizing processes to reduce redundancy.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal and compliance teams, to ensure governance, risk minimization, and proper data use.
* Drive scalable data operations to ensure a reliable and compliant data backbone for Novartis International.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical fields; Master’s preferred.
* 8+ years in Pharma or life sciences consulting with increasing responsibility.
* 8+ years in data, business analysis, or stakeholder management, leading global programs.
* 5+ years in Data Governance, Cloud Infrastructure, Master Data Management within Pharma.
* Expertise in data products, services, and capabilities.
* Deep understanding of healthcare datasets, including structured and unstructured data.
* Experience working with senior leadership to drive change and promote data harmonization.
* Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with IT, analytics, and global teams.
