Universidad de Deusto - Investigación

Job description

– Deusto Institute of Technology is the technological research centre of the University of Deusto, located on the Bilbao campus, whose mission is to promote research, training and knowledge transfer at the service of society and industry.

DeustoTech offers an exceptional opportunity for predoctoral researchers interested in the field of energy performance of buildings and built environments. Several topics such as integration of renewable energies, improvement of building envelopes, and building HVAC systems are considered, mainly through a data-driven perspective.

Position

We are seeking a research assistant in energy engineering, with expertise in building energy simulation, calibration of building thermo‑energy models and HVAC systems, model‑based control applications, energy data analytics, and electricity price formation processes.

The successful candidate will develop models, calibration procedures, and controllers, with the ultimate goal of optimizing the energy performance of buildings and other energy assets. These should comprise :

* Engineering modelling
* Statistical analysis and model calibration
* Developing, testing and validation of computer codes.

The candidate is expected to be capable of structuring and carrying out research activities, interacting with external collaborators within the framework of collaborative projects, and engaging with the internal team. Particularly :

* Interaction with data providers for model definition and calibration
* Integration with partners dealing with asset management and optimization for the correct formulation of models, calibration processes and energy optimization problems.
* Interaction with ICT technicians in Deusto, regarding the extraction and integration of data into data structures and transferring research code for integration into automated calibration services.
* Understanding and accessing data sources such as public offices (municipal / regional cadasters, building taxonomies, energy inventories), weather data services and energy suppliers (consumption data), to get contextual data from models.

The above mentioned activities are well‑aligned and with sufficient scientific aim to deliver a PhD thesis in the field of Energy in the Built Environment.

The candidate will participate also in communication and dissemination of the scientific results in conferences, seminars and workshops, both national and international, as well as publications in scientific journals.
