The Opportunity
A leading international technology company is seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Counsel to join its legal team in Madrid. This is a key contract position with potential for long-term engagement. You will support high-value, cross-border transactions across the EMEA region, working in a fast-paced and commercially driven environment.

About the Role
You will take ownership of complex commercial negotiations and serve as a primary legal partner to business and sales teams. The environment is dynamic and agile, and success in this role depends on your ability to manage deals independently with minimal supervision .
The role requires excellent commercial judgment, the ability to draft and negotiate across different legal systems (English law preferred), and comfort working in a sales-oriented, delivery-focused culture .
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the drafting, negotiation, and review of major commercial contracts across technology and service lines.
* Support complex cross-border transactions, often under tight timelines and with multiple stakeholders.
* Navigate diverse legal frameworks across EMEA (English law and local laws).
* Collaborate with procurement, delivery, compliance, and finance teams on deal execution.
* Advise on risk management, contract structuring, and commercial strategy.
Candidate Profile
* Qualified lawyer in Spain or another EU/common law jurisdiction (English law knowledge preferred).
* Minimum 8 years’ experience in commercial contracts, preferably in IT, telecoms, consulting, or software services.
* Proven ability to negotiate independently – plug-and-play mindset is essential.
* Strong understanding of SaaS, software implementation, IP, and cloud/on-prem contracting.
* Fluent in English ; Spanish is beneficial.
* Must be based in or willing to relocate to Madrid, with ability to be in-office 3+ days per week .
* Comfortable operating in a high-pressure, target-driven culture with multiple stakeholders.
