Position Summary
This is a high-impact role for a commercially driven leader ready to consolidate and expand a key business unit. The role combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, including licensing in opportunities, portfolio management of prescription products, and leadership of commercial, marketing, and medical teams.
The Business Unit Director will report to the Commercial General Manager and will be fully responsible for the strategic and operational management of a therapeutic portfolio, with full P&L ownership in a highly finance-centric environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and execute the strategic plan of the business unit in line with corporate objectives.
* Identify and propose licensing in opportunities to expand the portfolio.
* Lead and manage commercial, marketing, and medical (MSL) teams, ensuring alignment and performance.
* Be capable of covering any of the managers’ roles (sales, marketing, or medical) when needed.
* Build and strengthen relationships with KOLs, hospitals, and healthcare professionals.
* Ensure excellence in medical detailing and commercial execution across all prescription channels.
* Manage the P&L, prepare budget forecasts, and monitor financial performance.
* Guarantee compliance with scientific, regulatory, and corporate standards.
* Drive operational excellence through process optimization and cross-functional collaboration.
* Provide market insights and strategic input to support innovation and pipeline development.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Life Sciences, or related field.
* Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
Experience Requirements
* 7–10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.
* Proven success in commercial leadership roles.
* Strong track record in managing multidisciplinary teams (sales, marketing, medical).
* Experience in medical visit and hospital-driven sales models (non-pharmacy channel).
* Demonstrated P&L ownership and strategic decision-making.
* Previous exposure to licensing in projects highly valued.
* Minimum 2 years leading a business unit or equivalent function.
