ADI combines analog, digital, and software technologies into solutions that help drive advancements in digitized factories, mobility, digital healthcare, combat climate change, and reliably connect people and the world. With revenue of more than $9 billion in FY24 and approximately 24,000 people globally, ADI ensures today’s innovators stay Ahead of What’s Possible™.

Location: Cork, Limerick, Dublin in Ireland / Valencia in Spain

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Embedded Software Engineer to help us solve one of the major challenges facing embedded software developers today: how to deal with the increase of complexity on embedded devices, in decreasing development time frames. ADI is creating a modern, best‑in‑class software development environment for firmware development on mixed‑signal, heterogeneous embedded devices. Your role will link the world of embedded devices and their hardware constraints with modern web‑based, user‑experience‑focused tools.

Key Responsibilities

* Help ensure ADI delivers a meaningfully differentiated experience in developer and debug tooling, middleware and technical documentation.
* Transform requirements into best‑in‑class implementation code.
* Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product managers, and other engineers to define and implement intuitive and powerful developer experiences.
* Develop and maintain open‑source tools for embedded debugging, profiling, system configuration, compilers, SDKs, middleware, and automation frameworks.
* Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including CI/CD workflows, automated testing, and process refinements.
* Proactively resolve any issues encountered with existing applications.

Required Skills

* Strong embedded systems experience (bare‑metal, RTOS or embedded Linux).
* Capable of efficiently browsing documentation—from low‑level HW registers to open‑source software API references.
* Proven initiative and technical independence to resolve complex problems.
* Experience with debug tooling such as GDB, J‑Link, open OCD, etc.
* Strong fundamentals in data structures, design patterns and algorithms.
* Familiarity with best practices for the full software development process.
* Good understanding of testing methodologies like unit testing, functional testing, performance testing, and integration testing.
* Very strong grasp of version control systems: Git, GitHub, etc.
* Detail and quality oriented. Customers expect technical excellence from us, and this extends from chip design all the way up to the tooling we provide them.

Bonus Skills (Nice To Have, But Not Mandatory)

* Experience with Zephyr RTOS.
* Experience effectively engaging with and contributing to open‑source projects.
* Experience with ARM CoreSight architecture or equivalent.
* Familiarity with TypeScript and Node.js for command‑line tooling and web‑based developer tools.
