Business Development Manager - GlobalCocoon BiosciencePosition OverviewCocoon Bioscience is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive global sales and partnerships for our products and platform. Based on proprietary Baculovirus Expression Vector System (BEVS) technology utilizing silkworm cocoon production, we're delivering high-quality enzymes to the life sciences market. This role requires a unique combination of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and relationship-building skills to accelerate our growth in the RUO enzyme market.Key DetailsPosition: Business Development Manager - GlobalDepartment: CommercialReports to: CCOLocation: Remote (with travel requirements)Scope: Global markets with focus on North America, Europe, and AsiaRequired QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Business AdministrationAdvanced degree (MSc, MBA, or PhD) strongly preferredExperienceMinimum 7 years in business development, sales, or commercial roles within the life sciences industryProven track record selling molecular biology reagents, enzymes, or research consumablesDemonstrated success in global B2B sales with measurable revenue growthExperience with RUO products, biotech manufacturing, or enzyme applications preferredTechnical KnowledgeUnderstanding of molecular biology techniques (PCR, NGS, DNA synthesis)Familiarity with enzyme applications in research and diagnosticsKnowledge of competitive landscape in molecular enzymes (T7 polymerases, ligases, pyrophosphatases, NGS enzymes)Understanding manufacturing technologies (expression systems, protein purification) is advantageousLanguagesEssential: Fluent English, other languages a plus.Commercial SkillsExpertise in solution selling and consultative sales approachesStrong negotiation and contract management capabilitiesExperience with pricing strategies, financial modeling, and business case developmentResponsibilitiesRevenue Generation & SalesDrive sales targets: Achieve annual revenue goals and contribute to company projections Pipeline development: Build and manage a robust sales pipeline across key markets and customer segmentsDeal closure: Lead negotiations from initial contact through contract signing and implementationAccount management: Develop strategic relationships with key accounts in pharma, biotech, academia, and diagnosticsTechnical sales support: Provide pre-sales technical consultation, understanding customer applications and matching enzyme solutions to their needs Market Development & StrategyMarket intelligence: Monitor competitive activity, pricing trends, and emerging opportunities in the RUO enzyme spaceCustomer insights: Gather feedback on product performance, customer requirements, and unmet needs to inform R&D prioritiesBusiness planning: Contribute to commercial planning, forecasting, and strategic initiatives Marketing & CommunicationsDigital presence: Contribute to website content, blog posts, and SEO strategy to enhance online visibilityMarketing collateral: Develop sales presentations, brochures, and technical documentation for various customer segmentsSocial media engagement: Support LinkedIn and other professional platform activities to build brand awareness and thought leadershipProduct launches: Support marketing activities for new enzyme releasesTrade show planning: Coordinate booth presence, promotional materials, and pre-show marketing for conferences and exhibitionsBrand messaging: Ensure consistent brand voice and value proposition Partnership & CollaborationStrategic partnerships: Identify and develop relationships with potential OEM partners, distributors, and co-development opportunitiesCross-functional liaison: Serve as the bridge between customers and Cocoon's technical teams (R&D, Production, Quality)Specification development: Work with customers and internal teams to establish product specifications that meet market requirementsCustomer success: Ensure customer satisfaction through technical support, application troubleshooting, and responsive service Representation & NetworkingEvent presence: Represent Cocoon at international conferences, trade shows, and industry events (SLAS, PEGS, BIO, regional symposia)Key CompetenciesAttitudesEntrepreneurial mindset with proactive approach to business developmentPositive, solution-oriented attitude even in challenging situationsPassion for continuous improvement and learningIntegrity and ethical conduct in all business dealingsResults-driven with accountability for outcomesSuccess MetricsAchievement of annual revenue targetsNumber of new customers acquired and deals closedPipeline value and conversion ratesStrategic partnership development and revenue from partnershipsTravel Requirements30-40% travel, including international trips to customer sites, conferences, and partner meetingsWhat We OfferAs a member of Cocoon Bioscience's commercial team during this exciting growth phase, you'll have the opportunity to:Shape the go-to-market strategy for innovative enzyme productsWork with cutting-edge BEVS and proprietary manufacturing platformJoin a well-funded, ambitious biotech companyCollaborate with a talented, mission-driven teamSignificant career growth potential as the company scales
