Objective
The main objective of this call is to promote the recruitment and attraction of talent from researchers who join the different departments, institutes and UNESCO chairs of the UPC, through the granting of university teaching training grants for the year 2026 that allow them to dedicate themselves full-time to studies leading to obtaining the title of Doctor,which must be carried out in UPC programs. Another objective of the call is to promote research in the different strategic areas of the institution.
This call provides for the granting of 99 grants to hire payable research staff with full-time dedication to the studies leading to obtaining the title of Doctor that must be carried out in UPC programs. The purpose of the call will be teacher training that facilitates their insertion as teaching and research staff in the Spanish university system.
The granting of aid is subject to the condition of the existence of adequate and sufficient credit to finance the obligations arising from the granting of aid for the financial year 2026 and following, as set out in the corresponding headingsof Chapter 1.
* Be admitted to the doctoral programme with the commitment to enrol in thesis tutoring in the 2026-2027 academic year or with conditional admission to the doctoral programme, which must be definitive before the contract is formalised.
* They can also participate, if they are already enrolled in the previous academic year, in the academic supervision of the doctoral program at the time of acceptance of the grant. Doctoral programs must be from the UPC
* Not have benefited from any other grant of a similar nature (predoctoral contract) lasting more than 12 months when the deadline for submitting applications ends.
* Not have a Doctor degree.
* Not having taken advantage of this aid in whole or in part in previous calls.
* Have the endorsement of a UPC PDI thesis supervisor, with accredited research experience and who has a permanent link to the UPC or an employment contract that exceeds four years of the grant.
* Have the accreditation of sufficient knowledge of Catalan C1 CEFR. In the event that it is not available, the temporary exemption from accreditation must be requested under the terms provided for in Agreement CG/2023/03/09, of 13 April of the Governing Council.

Additional Information
The gross annual remuneration of the contract, for 12 payments + proration of the 2 extra payments, will be as follows:
First and second year of the contract: remuneration equivalent to 60% of the salary set for Group I of the salary table for the corresponding year set out in the IV Single Agreement for Employees of the General State Administration.
Third and fourth years of the contract: remuneration equivalent to 75% of the salary set for Group I of the corresponding salary table for the year set out in the IV Single Agreement for Employees of the General State Administration
Eligibility criteria
Each Department/ Institute or UNESCO Chair has its own evaluation criteria.
The expected start date will be June 15, 2026, for candidates of the 1st edition, or March 1, 2027, for candidates of the 2nd edition. Otherwise, the candidate will be deemed to have declined the grant.
