Context And Mission
The Machine Learning for Biomedical Research Unit, led by Davide Cirillo, is looking for a junior research engineer to work on multi-omics data integration for the clinical and molecular characterization of colon cancer. The project is a collaboration with FRCB-IDIBAPS. The researcher will be addressing the following topics: cancer research, genetics and pathophysiology of colon cancer, bioinformatics methods and workflows to process and analyse multi-omics data, factor analysis approaches for integrative analysis, classification and prediction.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic research group within the Life Sciences department, which integrates independent senior scientists that work on various aspects of computational biology, ranging from bioinformatics for genomics and proteomics to computational biochemistry and text mining. The Researcher will work in a highly sophisticated HPC environment, will have access to systems and computational infrastructures, and will establish collaborations with experts in different areas.
Key Duties
* Process and analyse multi-omics data

Requirements
* Education
o Master in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology or any field related to AI and biomedicine.
o Degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology or any field related to AI and biomedicine and Computer Science
* Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
o Knowledge in Computer Science, Bioinformatics and/or Computational Biology.
o At least +1 year of experience with the R programming language.
o Knowledge of additional programming languages Python), and user experience with HPC.
* Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
o Fluency in spoken and written English.
* Competences
o Good communication and presentation skills.
o Ability to work both independently and within a team.
Conditions
* The position will be located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department

* Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
