Santander Consumer Finance focuses on business development related to consumer finance products, sales channels and commercial agreements with dealers, vehicle manufacturers or retail distribution establishments, as well as commercial functions associated with direct sales (branches, call centers or digital channels) and indirect sales (through third parties) of consumer finance products. THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE Santander Consumer Finance is looking for a Specialist at Decision Strategy and Statistical Analysis for the Credit Risk Department based in our Boadilla del Monte (Madrid) office. We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for: Delivering AWS-based AI/ML, data engineering and data science solutions supporting credit risk decision processes. Managing credit risk decisioning ecosystems, including Provenir risk engine, databases, and analytical environments. Parameterizing, maintaining, and optimizing risk decision strategies across different portfolios within Santander Digital Bank countries. Designing and implementing data-driven credit risk strategies and frameworks aligned with organizational and portfolio objectives. Supporting technological initiatives impacting Credit Risk Decision Strategy and Statistical Analysis capabilities. Developing and maintaining automated ETL-based monitoring processes covering the end-to-end admission process including data quality, admission performance, and decision engine accuracy. Collaboration with cross-country teams to integrate risk management practices across the organization. Supporting continuous improvement and automation of credit risk decision process through analytics and innovation. WHAT YOU’LL BRING Our people are our greatest strength. The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential for success in this role. Professional Experience Minimum 6 years of experience in credit risk analytics, modelling, decision strategy, or statistical analysis within banking, consumer finance, or fintech environments (Required) Experience working with credit risk decisioning ecosystems (Provenir, FICO, Experian, etc.) and risk strategy implementation across multiple portfolios. (Required) Experience operating within international and cross-country financial institutions. (Preferred) Education Maste’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Econometrics, or another quantitative discipline. (Required) Additional certifications or advanced qualifications in risk management, AI/ML, or analytics are advantageous. (Preferred) Languages C1/Fluent English, written and spoken. (Required) Additional EU languages are considered an advantage. (Preferred) Hard Skills Strong programming and analytical skills in Python, SQL, R, SAS or equivalent analytics tools. (Required) Hands-on experience working with AWS ecosystem and advance analytics. (Required) Experience working with credit risk decision engines. (Required) Experience with ETL processes, data pipelines, and automated monitoring frameworks. (Required) Experience designing or integrating web service-based and API-driven analytical and decision solutions, supporting real-time or near real-time decision processes. (Required) Experience deploying AI/ML solutions are considered an advantage. (Preferred) Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset. Ability to translate complex analytics into business decisions. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Strong collaboration skills across business, risk, and technology teams. High level of self-organization and ability to manage multiple priorities in complex project environment. Continuous improvement mindset, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance processes, analytics, decision strategies.
