Logistics Engineer / Project ManagerThe Logistics Engineer / Project Manager leads the technical evolution and modernization of our 10,000m2 self-operated distribution center, transforming a complex, legacy-automated environment into a flexible, next-generation fulfillment hub using AMR and advanced robotics.It is a strategic role responsible for bridging the gap between physical hardware and digital systems, managing the transition from legacy software (WMS/WCS/MFC) to a modern SAP eWM environment, reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain.Responsibilities- Creation of a holistic view of warehouse operations in terms of automation technology, system landscape and warehouse operator needs.- Full understanding and documentation of current bottlenecks in throughput and storage capacity.- Automation transformation and strategy: assess and lead the transition from rigid legacy automation to flexible technologies such as AMRs and humanoids where required.- Systems architecture and integration: master the current landscape (WMS, WCS, MFC) and design the integration strategy to link the physical world with the digital world as the lead for the upcoming SAP eWM implementation.- Financial stewardship and ROI: drive rigorous ROI analysis for all automation projects in collaboration with finance and site management.- Material flow and process optimization: analyze and redesign internal material flows to eliminate bottlenecks and optimize picking strategies, replenishment cycles and packing efficiency.- Project governance: act as the on-site project lead for major technical and system shifts, managing the end‑to‑end lifecycle from concept to commissioning and handover.- Stakeholder and vendor management: partner with site management to assess new vendors and technologies, ensuring system interoperability.- Technical communication: adapt complex technical concepts for different audiences and clearly articulate the rationale behind automation shifts.- Performance tracking: define and monitor KPIs for automated systems, lead corrective actions when performance gaps occur.Who You Are- Analytical Problem Solver: thrive on making legacy systems perform in a modern context and view ambiguity as an opportunity to propose solutions.- Strategic Executor: design a 3‑year automation roadmap while being ready to troubleshoot on the warehouse floor during go‑live.- Influential Leader: lead through stakeholder management and structured communication without direct disciplinary responsibility.- Systems Thinker: link physical movement to system logic and understand how sensor triggers translate to data points.Qualifications & Experience- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Robotics, Logistics, or a related field.- Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years in intralogistics functions with a proven track record in complex warehouse automation projects and lean management principles.- Technical Mastery: Deep experience with WMS environments and specific experience with SAP eWM and its integration with automated material‑flow systems.- Automation Expertise: Hands‑on experience with AMR, AS/RS or high‑speed sortation systems and understanding of the legacy stack (MFC/WCS).- Soft Skills: Strong analytical capabilities and the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.- Languages: Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish.Roche is an Equal Opportunity Employer.#J-18808-Ljbffr
