Job Description
As a Controls Engineer, your main functions/tasks will be:
1. Programming and commissioning PLC and SCADA systems, adapting machine functionality to project specifications.
2. Diagnosing and resolving system faults both in the factory and at customer sites.
3. Providing remote technical support (internal and external) for our installed base worldwide.
4. Offering technical support during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (CAT).
5. Supporting start-up activities at customer locations, including debugging machine functionalities.
6. Providing customer training.
7. Generating manuals and technical documentation.
8. Informing management about the technical status of projects requiring assistance.
9. Creating incident reports to build a database for client history and future troubleshooting.
10. Supporting project assembly teams with tools and technical strategies.
11. Managing incidents and providing feedback to clients.
12. Supporting Vanderlande subsystem products within integrated systems.
Required Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technology (e.g., Electronics, Mechatronics, Software).
2. 3-5 years of experience in material handling, automation, or related industries.
3. Knowledge of TIA Portal, WinCC SCADA, etc.
4. Understanding electrical drawings.
5. Electrical troubleshooting skills for validation and failure detection.
6. Knowledge of EU and US electrical and safety norms.
7. Experience with Frequency Inverters, HMI, and related products.
8. Experience in machine installation, start-up, commissioning, and service.
9. Experience programming PLC-controlled systems, including safety and motor control, with industrial communication/networking (e.g., Ethernet, TCP/IP, Profinet).
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Field engineering experience onsite.
2. Experience with Linux.
3. Interest in computer science.
What will you be doing?
As a Controls Engineer, you will be part of the specialist PAX team responsible for deploying and providing third-level support for our systems. Support may be remote or onsite, requiring 50-60% travel. This role offers opportunities to visit different countries and experience diverse cultures.
You will collaborate with the PAX team on automated airport lines. Manufacturing occurs in Santpedor. When not traveling, you will support the factory, service managers, and engineering teams, and work on development and testing scenarios. You will also be the primary contact for third-line support.
