As the HSE Manager, Global Food, you will lead health, safety, and environmental initiatives across our global Food operations. Reporting to the General Manager and aligned with the Group Health & Safety Director, you'll coordinate HSE programs, support corporate compliance and sustainability goals, and liaise with authorities as needed. You'll guide global HSE strategy, lead the Food HSE Group, and oversee performance improvement efforts. This role includes indirect alignment with regional HSE leaders worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, recommend, and implement overall strategic direction, planning and organization of ALS Food Business HSE priorities
Coordinate and communicate ALS and Food HSE Compliance and Sustainability responsibilities between the global HSE Food resources
Support the Food Business when dealing with governmental regulatory entities as needed
Review and report on Global HSE performance monthly
Develop and support best practice principles to improve consistency with global HSE programs and tools
Assess, interpret, and implement all requirements of the HSE Management System and regulations in all ALS Food business locations
Ensure compliance with all environmental regulatory needs
Enforce ALS and Food HSE standards, identify, and monitor corrective actions to ensure compliance
Support an HSE culture of reporting, review and continual improvement through corrective actions
Lead the Global Food team to develop and support corporate initiatives and programs
Focus on Injury Management, monitor and support incidents within the business and investigations aligned with country and ALS Policy and Standards
Develop programs to reduce high risk elements through Life Saving Rules and review of incident trends
Review and report on PPI program metrics and globally support compliance
Manage and participate in global HSE audits
Manage and maintain global HSE risk identification, program controls, and monitoring programs
Engage in Sustainability activities related to corporate objectives and their adaptation to the Food Business
Ensure appropriate mandatory training (Induction, specialty roles, refresher)
Observe established HSE regulations, best practices, and comply with all ALS Group Health and Safety standards, policies, procedures, and tools
Maintain compliance with ALS Loss Control requirements
Assess Food operations physical security requirements to protect assets
Assess medical, security, and safety travel, make recommendations to minimize risk for global Food operations
Lead Food field and vehicle safety program requirements
Implement, test and improve the HSE aspects associated with site emergency response and business continuity programs

Required Qualifications
Completion of university degree, College level or Institutional Occupational Health and Safety Program or equivalent is desired
Minimum of 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility for Health and Safety outcomes and program conception/implementation
Minimum of 3-years management experience
Multilingual preferred (Spanish, Portuguese), however business operations are primarily conducted in English
Physical Demands
Ability to travel up to 30% of time when required
Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks.
Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE), when required.
Ability to stand for a full shift.
Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.
Ability to communicate via telephone and email without assistance.
