Opdenergy is a growing independent power producer (IPP) with presence in Europe, the United States, and Latin America, and over 19 years of experience. The company develops, constructs, finances, manages, and operates high-quality renewable energy projects in multiple countries, with a portfolio of 2.6 GW in operation and over 18 GW under development.
We are currently looking to hire a Global Insurance Manager based in Madrid or Seville to support our assets in operation and under construction.
What will you do?
* Lead the annual insurance policy procurement and review process.
* Full management of technical claims on renewable energy assets (photovoltaic plants, wind farms, and BESS) during both construction and operation phases.
* Analyze and process claims related to: Material damage to equipment (modules, inverters, trackers, wind turbines, substations, lines); Business Interruption / Loss of Production (BI/LOP) based on internal production models; Extreme weather events, electrical and mechanical failures, fires, and breakdowns.
* Coordinate with insurers, brokers, technical experts, and specialized loss adjusters.
* Provide technical assessment of claims in collaboration with O&M, Engineering, Grid, and Construction teams.
* Prepare, control, and monitor claims to ensure accurate quantification of damages and energy losses.
* Analyze claims KPIs: frequency, severity, resolution times, and financial recoveries.
* Coordinate with Finance on the impact on P&L and cash flow of projects.
* Negotiate, track, and control obligations arising from project financing contracts and coordinate them with contractors’ obligations in supply or service agreements.
* Support the definition of risk prevention strategies and improve the insurability of assets.
* Participate in technical inspections, expert assessments, and site visits as needed.
* Monitor contractual obligations of insurers.
Who you are
* University degree in Industrial, Electrical, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
* Training in Industrial Insurance, Risk Management, or Energy & Power Insurance is a plus.
* Minimum 3-5 years of experience in claims management, technical insurance, or risk management within the energy, power, or infrastructure sector.
* Solid knowledge Photovoltaic (trackers, inverters, SCADA), Wind (turbines, met towers, substations) and BESS technologies.
* Ability to interpret technical production data, SCADA, and unavailability analyses.
* High level of English (international environment).
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (loss models, BI, reporting).
* Analytical, detail-oriented, with strong cross-functional coordination skills.
