About IFAE
The Institut de Física d'Altes Energies (IFAE) is a public consortium of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
IFAE carries out research in high energy physics from theoretical, experimental, and technological perspectives.

About The Neutrino Group
Long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments provide a window into CP violation in the leptonic sector.
The current world-leading experiment, T2K in Japan, has upgraded its near detector ND280 and its neutrino beam.
Hyper-Kamiokande (HK) will begin operation in May 2028.
ND280 remains central to this effort, enabling HK's physics program.
The IFAE Neutrino Group has been involved in T2K and HK, contributing to the construction and upgrades of ND280, and conducting analyses of T2K ND280 data.
The group holds major responsibilities in preparing ND280 for HK and ensuring its full physics exploitation in the HK era.
Required Skills And Evaluation Criteria
The successful candidate is expected to have:
Master's in Physics or satisfy the requirements to be admitted to the Physics PhD program of the UAB before the start of the grant (
).
Proficiency in the English language.
Pro-active attitude and good communication skills.
Research experience in particle physics or related fields during Master studies will be considered positively.

What will be your role?
Long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments measure CP violation in the leptonic sector.
The current leading experiment is T2K in Japan.
Hyper-Kamiokande is a next-generation experiment that will use the same near detector as T2K with a much larger far detector.
The successful candidate will work on the near detector, ND280, of Hyper-Kamiokande, participate in data taking with ND280 and analysis/beam studies in T2K as preparation to transfer expertise from T2K to HK, and contribute to simulation studies and R&D; to optimize ND280 performance within the HK ND280++ Upgrade framework.
Offered Contract
Full-time contract (40 hours/week).
Predoctoral Contract
Position corresponds to "Predoctoral Researcher (R1)" within IFAE categories.
Salary proportional to experience and qualifications within the category range.
Work with interesting experimental science, travel to scientific infrastructures, and opportunities for personal growth and learning.
Selected candidate is expected to join IFAE as soon as possible.
