Job Description
We are seeking a Java developer to join our 'Regulatory data exchange' project. The role involves working across all layers of the project, enabling you to become self-sufficient over time. The project primarily utilizes Java, along with open source frameworks such as Spring Boot, Postgres, Scala, Hadoop, and Angular. Emphasis is on backend development, so experience in this area is highly valued.
About the team
Our small team in Valencia manages one of Confluence's flagship products, Silverfinch, a data exchange platform used by asset managers and investors. With a new team member, we aim to upgrade and enhance the product. Work hours are typically 8 am to 5 pm or 9 am to 6 pm, with daily stand-ups. Flexibility may be required, including occasional after-hours on-call duties.
Required skills & experience
* 5+ years in software development
* Fluent in English (spoken and written)
* Quality-focused, self-motivated, quick learner
* Familiarity with Java open source ecosystem
Desired skills (not essential)
* Spark and Hadoop
* Experience with MVC projects
* Relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
* Knowledge of Jooq or similar ORM tools
* Scala
* Proficiency with Git
* Functional programming experience
* Yarn / Zookeeper
* Cluster provisioning platforms like Ambari or Cloudera Manager
* HBase / HDFS
* Vagrant or similar virtualization tools
* Chef, Gradle
* Frontend skills with Angular and Bootstrap
* Experience with TDD practices
* Knowledge of financial regulations
