Job Summary
The Ends Shell Press Mechanic/Operator is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of high-speed shell presses used in the production of metal container ends. This role ensures the continuous and quality output of components while adhering to safety and operational standards.
Job Responsibilities
* Operate, monitor, and adjust high-speed shell presses and associated auxiliary equipment to produce metal container ends according to specifications.
* Perform routine preventative maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of press components.
* Diagnose and resolve basic mechanical and operational issues, perform minor repairs, and assist maintenance technicians with more complex breakdowns.
* Conduct quality checks on finished products, including dimensional measurements and visual inspections, to ensure compliance with quality standards.
* Load and unload raw materials (coil stock) and finished goods, utilizing appropriate material handling equipment.
* Maintain accurate production records, downtime logs, and maintenance reports.
* Adhere to all safety protocols, including LOTO, machine guarding, and personal protective equipment requirements.
* Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to optimize production and minimize downtime.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety within the production area.
* Keep the work area clean and organized, following 5S principles.
Job Qualifications
* Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational training or a technical degree in mechanical maintenance, industrial mechanics, or a related field is highly desirable.
* Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating and maintaining high-speed industrial machinery, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience with metal forming presses, stamping operations, or can‑making machinery is a significant advantage.
* Technical Skills:
o Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
o Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
o Familiarity with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
o Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
o Proficiency in performing preventative maintenance tasks.
* Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 kg, climb, bend, and stoop as required by the job. Good manual dexterity and visual acuity.
* Soft Skills:
o Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
o Excellent problem-solving abilities.
o Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
o Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
* Language: Proficiency in Spanish is required. English proficiency is a plus.
