EIB Trainee - Finance Directorate (FI) - Strategy, Policies & Business Support Department (SPBS) - Operational Support & Monitoring Division (SDM) and Systems & Data Management Division (OSM) Join to apply for the role at the European Investment Bank (EIB). This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. Duration:
5 months (fixed start date: 1 March 2026), with possible extension up to 6 months if required by University.
Eligibility:

Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the duration of the traineeship will not be considered. Please limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications; only the first three applications submitted will be considered.
Responsibilities
Assist senior colleagues in business analysis for new product implementation, system enhancements, and process optimisation across all SPBS divisions.
Explore and apply emerging technologies (including AI, blockchain, and automation) to foster innovation, strengthen support team operations, and enhance future system capabilities.
Support the configuration and maintenance of Treasury and Borrowing instruments in financial systems.
Contribute to the alignment of Business & Technical Support (BTS) and Loan Support (LS) activities, including ticket management, statistical reporting, and the development of a unified activity report.
Participate in the documentation and testing of financial system developments, including the preparation of test scenarios.
Contribute to the development and enhancement of the reporting landscape, including the use of Power BI for advanced analytics and dashboarding.
Participate in strategic projects such as the BCBS239 project pilot, aimed at improving risk data aggregation and reporting standards across the department.
Academic Qualifications and Professional Skills
Final year of studies or university education in business administration, IT, finance, mathematics or economics.
Good understanding of Treasury, Borrowings and Lending products and processes.
Familiarity with artificial intelligence, co‑pilot prompts, automation, and robotic technologies would be considered an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Knowledge of Jira and Power BI would be considered an advantage.
Excellent skills in Word and PowerPoint.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to prepare statistical reports and visualise data through graphs and charts.
Working level in English.
