Overview As the Electrical Substation Design Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design approach and execution of electrical substation projects. In this role, you will ensure project excellence and drive innovation in substation design. This position is with GE Vernova.
Responsibilities Lead the design drafting standards in developing electrical schematics for electrical power substations, including generation, distribution, and transmission systems.
Design electrical schematics from project engineering team basic markups, ensuring precision and alignment with project requirements.
Serve as the primary technical contact for customers, ensuring project execution aligns with client specifications and expectations.
Interpret and utilize client specifications and electrical diagrams to define solutions and execute point-to-point wiring.
Design the installation of new equipment, such as relay racks, and collaborate with supply chain for material definition.
Manage product lifecycle documentation using PLM tools and integration with design tools.
Coordinate with manufacturing, services, tendering, and other departments to ensure project success.
Manage and coordinate suppliers, engineers, and global teams, ensuring seamless integration and collaboration within the project.
Identify and address technical gaps among project teams, providing guidance and support to ensure technical alignment and project success.
Ensure on-time delivery, project operation, margin improvement, and customer satisfaction.
Contribute to continuous process improvement and support the operations department's development across the region.
Support the commercial team by providing feedback to optimize project costs and delivery timelines.
Follow compliance policies and promote open reporting.
Qualifications/Requirements Advanced proficiency in EPLAN design
Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
Extensive familiarity with electrical schematics, designs, and symbols
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage design teams effectively, including suppliers and global teams
Ability to design electrical schematics from basic markups
Fluent in English and Spanish; additional languages such as French, Italian, or Portuguese are valued
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction
Willingness to travel up to 30%
Desired Characteristics Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical power substation design
Experience in technical negotiation to align solutions with design standards
Initiative, attention to detail, and a strong motivation to learn
