Job Description
The Flight Physics Centre of Competence (CoC) is a German‑Spanish organisation within Airbus Defence & Space Engineering. It is responsible for the flight physics deliverables for all Airbus Defence & Space fixed‑wing aircraft programmes across four domains: aerodynamics, aircraft performance & mass properties, static loads/structural dynamics & acoustics, and flight dynamics & flight control laws. The CoC’s strategic focus is on digitalisation, standardisation, simplification and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
* Accountable for aircraft performance activities across current and future programmes as well as R&D/T, the certification process and negotiations with certification authorities.
* Support design phases in future programmes and derivatives of existing products.
* Evaluate the impact of aircraft & engine configuration changes on performance for commercial, customer and operational support.
* Carry out performance studies to support sales campaigns, RFPs and customer enquiries.
* Assist AD&S customer service flight operations with operational tools, documentation, computerised operating‑data solutions, in‑service queries and technical support.
* Support flight‑data analysis activities for development, certification, training, incident/accident investigations, etc.
* Implement roadmaps for harmonisation & maintenance of tools, data management, marketing of aircraft performance services.
* Implement the Flight Physics strategy, develop and grow the service portfolio.
* Ensure the highest standards in quality and clarity of technical dossier content and presentation.
* Implement digitalisation, capability & technology roadmaps while ensuring R&T, R&D and program delivery OTOCOQ.
* Contribute to team and program transversal activities and synergies.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of aircraft performance processes.
* Maintain strong communication, collaboration and conflict‑management skills to present effectively within the team and to stakeholders inside and outside the CoC.
* Demonstrate problem‑solving and organisational skills and a customer‑focused mindset that inspires confidence and credibility with internal and external customers.
Requirements
* Minimum Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
* 3–5 years of experience in aircraft performance (development, flight test and certification).
* Passion for continuous improvement and an owner mentality.
* Strategic thinking and methodical execution, ability to work under pressure.
* Willingness to travel as required.
* English at negotiation level (German/Spanish preferred).
