The BBRC is seeking to fill the full-time position of
Director of the BBRC CSA. The appointed individual will report to the BBRC Director and become a member of the Management Committee. He / she will be responsible for the development and management of the centre’s CSA, a series of studies involving thousands of participants from across Spain.The selected candidate’s role will be twofold:
Acting as ambassador for the BBRC CSA.Overseeing management of a multidisciplinary team of approximately 30 people participating in observational research studies and non-pharmacological and pharmacological intervention studies (clinical trials).In addition, the CSA Director will collaborate with research groups (Faculty) to foster and develop new studies. A long-term goal is to shape the next decade of the BBRC’s growth through multicentre grant applications across transdisciplinary domains, enhancing global partnerships in Europe, the US, and Iberoamerica, and expanding educational initiatives.By leveraging the centre’s infrastructure and expertise, the CSA Director will co-lead funding acquisition and international partnerships, helping establish the BBRC as a leader in brain health. The role includes expanding scientific impact through multimodal, computational, and translational neuroscience, promoting cross-national research, and integrating biomarkers for early detection and prevention. The candidate will also focus on international funding and networks to forge strategic partnerships, emphasizing personalized medicine and precision brain health.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The CSA Director will foster institutional research projects, ensuring strategic growth in neuroscience, brain health, and Alzheimer’s disease prevention. The role involves strengthening scientific assets, supporting research groups, and facilitating national and international partnerships.Key responsibilities include:
Contributing to scientific development:
Developing strategic agendas to enhance the BBRC’s leadership globally.Strategic planning:
Designing long-term plans to sustain research cohorts and incorporate new biomarkers and therapies.Funding and growth:
Securing large-scale funding from NIH, European agencies, and philanthropic foundations.Scientific excellence:
Collaborating with faculty to advance research quality and innovation.Transdisciplinary initiatives:
Leading efforts in exposome research, -omics, computational modeling, and neuroinformatics.Societal engagement:
Linking research to policy development, public-private partnerships, and societal impact.Operational Oversight
Ensuring alignment with institutional goals, maintaining research quality, overseeing clinical operations and data governance, promoting open science, and supporting research visibility and impact.Representation and Collaboration
Representing BBRC CSA at conferences, building partnerships, and attracting industry collaborations, especially for preventive clinical trials.REQUIREMENTS
PhD or MD-PhD in Neuroscience, Neurology, Brain Health, or related fields, with a strong publication and funding record.Leadership experience in international programs and research consortiums.Proven mentorship and research development skills.Experience in transdisciplinary research and industry collaborations.Extensive grant acquisition experience from major funding bodies.Skills in stakeholder engagement, cohort management, and clinical research.Technological proficiency and excellent English communication skills.WORKING CONDITIONS
