Job Description
The role involves close relationships with invested companies and operations, as well as various functional areas across the business (IT, Marketing, Maintenance, Capex, Admissions, etc.). Direct contact with the CEO is required for budgeting processes and ad-hoc requests and analysis.
Additionally, the role offers an exciting opportunity to drive improvements and efficiencies within the Finance team and across other teams, as the company continues to grow organically and through acquisitions.
This position is based in the Spanish small but busy Head Office team. Flexibility in working practices and the ability to react to various ad-hoc situations, either independently or as part of a team, are essential.
Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring timely submission to the Group for all Spanish entities and compliance with international accounting standards.
Own the financials, understand performance and business trends, prepare the Spain Reporting Pack, explain key variances, and provide insights to management and senior leadership.
Communicate results to heads of invested companies and functional managers, maintaining close relationships and exchanging relevant information.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes for Spain, ensuring involvement of relevant managers and alignment with group deadlines.
Collaborate with the transactional accounting team, ensuring segregation of duties and process control.
Develop, train, and manage a high-performing team.
Support the transition of acquired businesses to group accounting policies.
Assist in conducting Balance Sheet reviews.
Respond to Group's ad-hoc queries accurately and promptly.
The Successful Applicant
Qualified Accountant with over 5 years of post-qualification experience.
Big 4 + 3 years audit experience.
Experience with complex multi-location groups managing multiple fiscal entities.
Experience in invested companies or private equity firms.
Advanced Excel skills, with proven experience in large financial models.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and Spanish GAAP.
Familiarity with Cognos Controller / TM1 or similar systems is preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
Leadership qualities to motivate and build confidence within the team.
Well-organized, with good time management and prioritization skills.
Strong process management skills, with character and gravitas to enforce discipline and excellence.
Proactive, self-starter with a can-do attitude and problem-solving mindset.
