Junior Product Manager

Role Overview
As a Junior Product Manager you will set a clear vision, prioritize work effectively, and ensure the team delivers high‑quality products that meet business and user needs. You will drive product strategy, articulate technical vision, and collaborate across engineering, design, marketing, and sales.
Product Domains
- Ubuntu Platform – Desktop, Server, Windows (WSL), Multipass, Gaming, Enterprise & Hardware Enablement
- Ubuntu Pro Services – Ubuntu Pro, Compliance, Standards, Security Engineering, Managed Services on cloud and on‑prem
- AI/ML & MLOps – Open source AI/ML solutions, AIOps automation, model lifecycle management, Kubeflow, MLFlow, KServe, AI infrastructure on cloud and edge
- IoT – Ubuntu on embedded devices and/or edge servers, device management, robotics
- Cloud – Ubuntu in public and private clouds, automation frameworks, Kubernetes, MAAS, LXD
- Telco – Open source for Telco, Core Network, RAN/vRAN, SoNIC, DENT, SmartNICs
- Finance – Trading platforms, blockchain technologies, regulatory compliance, AI‑driven analytics
- Automotive – Autonomous driving, in‑vehicle infotainment, connected vehicles, ISO 26262 & ISO 21434 compliance
- Application Management – Observability, IAM, App Stores, Grafana, GitOps, Juju Charms
Responsibilities
- Lead the product development lifecycle, reviewing priorities and goals for your product
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as engineering, design, marketing and sales
- Align on priorities, enable informed decisions and keep business execution on track
- Conduct market research, analyse industry trends, and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities
- Communicate product vision, status updates and key decisions to ensure alignment and manage expectations
- Conduct usability testing, analyse user feedback and iterate on the product to improve user experience
- Collaborate with marketing, sales and support to develop go‑to‑market strategies, create product documentation and provide training
- Contribute to the success of the sales team by reviewing customer feedback and participating in customer meetings
- Oversee the work of a product line, ensuring consistency in strategy and execution across teams
- Facilitate collaboration and resolve conflicts within and across departments
Qualifications
- Exceptional academic performance at high school and university
- Understanding of Linux and the wider open source community
- Knowledge of computer architecture, application development, datacentres, cloud or devices
- Passion to write about technologies and the tech landscape
- Strong work ethic and interests aligned with the open source movement
- Curiosity and habit of continuous learning
- Strong sense of ownership
- Problem‑solving and innovative thinking
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English
- Ability to manage multiple projects or product lines while maintaining focus on key priorities
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 4 times a year for company events up to two weeks long
Additional Skills We Value
- Familiarity with specific verticals (Telco, Finance, Industrial, Automotive)
- Knowledge of the ecosystem – Silicon, IHV, ISV, ODM/OEMs, cloud service providers and channel partners
- Experience with cloud‑native technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, containers & Snaps
- Experience with embedded and connected device technology
- Networking technologies – Ethernet, IPv4/IPv6, routing, firewalling, OVN/OVS, VPNs, SR‑IOV, InfiniBand
- Telco networking – RAN, Core, CPE
- Experience leading distributed teams across time zones
- Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and innovation in team settings
