The Position
At the heart of this internship, you will collaborate with our Simulation Teams to architect the future of System & Solution Design. As a key contributor, you will help build and validate 'Digital Twins' for our next-generation core lab solutions. Your work won't just be theoretical, it will directly shape the physical architecture and the logical brain of cutting-edge, end-to-end laboratory systems.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Model & Maintain: Create and maintain complex scenarios for software and hardware simulations
- Execute & Analyze: Run simulations and perform deep-dive analyses of the results to identify system behaviors
- Evolutionary Support: Provide status updates and issue notifications to support the continuous evolution of our simulators
- Collaborate: Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to improve departmental operations and project delivery
What You Will Learn & Develop
- Advanced Simulation: Gain hands-on experience with Discrete Event Simulation (DES) using tools like Simio or AnyLogic
- Systems Engineering: Understand the big picture of how hardware, software, and logistics integrate into massive diagnostic solutions
- Algorithmic Thinking: Design and implement efficient heuristics for real-time decision-making in robotics
- Data Science: Use Python to transform raw simulation outputs into powerful, data-driven visual stories
- Software Development: Level up your OOP (C# or Java) skills by extending simulation logic
- Integral Collaboration: Experience working across borders with engineers and product owners in an international environment
Who You Are
You are a methodical, responsible team player who is eager to take ownership of technical challenges.
- Education: Mechanical Engineering, SW Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Industrial Engineering
- Programming: Solid foundation in Object-Oriented Programming (C# or Java)
- Data Tools: Knowledge of SQL, Python, and Pandas for data management
- Simulation: Familiarity with Discrete Event Simulations and statistical modeling
- Communication: Fluent in English; able to present complex data with clarity
- Mindset: A strong willingness to learn and a proactive approach to problem-solving
